Why it's so hard to believe the lib line that "history will be kind to Obama"

It's no secret that democrats believe they have this guy leaving office who is going to be revered in the same way JFK, Eisenhower, FDR, Reagan are revered.
Why it's so hard to take this seriously is that no "great" US presidents saw their party fall off a literal cliff in terms of power as Obama has seen his. In fact, almost all great US presidents had a positive influence on their party's performance for years and sometimes decades. FDR's popularity helped dems win the white house after he left for an extra cycle or two, and helped maintain the democrats power-lockdown on the US house of representatives until the 90s. The republican party was an afterthought during and in the years after his reign. A generation of people because staunch democrats because of him.
Reagan's successor won 80% of the states and the reagan revolution continued in midterm elections in the 90s. A generation of people became republicans because of him.
Obama has done exactly neither of those things: His successor, who proudly ran presenting herself as a continuation of him, lost in to a twitter troll, people identifying as democrats have gone DOWN since he took office, and there is no generation of liberals created by his time as president. Every level of government has seen the decimation of democratic influence. The exact opposite happened under FDR, Reagan, etc.

This.
It's not that he did much as much as he will have a bunch of people cheerleading for him.
People who lived through the era will ignore them at best and lambast them at worst over it, much like the attempts to claim Carter was an average to above average president and that Reagan was in the bottom tier. They never admitted Reagan's impact until after his death.

The obvious answer to Obama's popularity vs the DNC's losses is the Bradley Effect.

The reason it will be kind to him is he came before and after 2 of the worst presidents in history and managed to keep the country afloat

Those dudes brought us smart phones, he brought us dumb insurance...
It's just bad...
The scandals are covered up so much, he'll be looked at as a tyrant...
You've seen the list, fast and furious, Arab spring, beer summit (a high point I might add), this guy just sucks

FDR was a racist.
In 1936, after the Berlin Olympics, FDR invited the athletes who competed for the U.S. to the White House. But Jesse Owens, who had won four gold medals, humiliating Adolph Hitler in the process, did not receive the invitation from the president. No surprise then, that Owens stumped for Roosevelt’s Republican rival, Alf Landon, in the 1936 presidential election. “Hitler didn’t snub me—it was our president who snubbed me,” Owens said during the campaign.
Lets also not forget the 100k Japanese that were put in concentration camps

His only accomplishment was being the first black President. Everything else has been an abject failure.

I don't know. FDR is a somewhat deified figure to democrats and moderates. Even conservatives don't really appreciate how awful a president he was

Most of them appear to be perfectly content with looking at nothing but their prostate for the rest of their lives.

History won't be kind to Obama. The present is kind because you'll get called a racist for criticizing him, but it won't matter so much after he's out of office.

Obama will be the first president of color putting him right up there with Washington and Lincoln.
He won't be judged on his record.

He has been the worst president ever.

the sine qua non of his tenure.
He sounds very good when he speaks from a prepared text, and if you are oblivious to his agenda, he sounds re-assuring.
But he is an abject failure in every sense of leadership qualities or wisdom.
He is a community organizer whose only talent is dividing people and exploiting political advantages based on race.
The current academic establishment will enshrine him along with King Arthur.

It can be summarized in a single sentence: Donald Trump succeeded him. Obama could scarcely dream that things would go to shite so quickly.

I have always thought that Obama will go down as a top 10 POTUS if only because those who write history are liberal.
I think that if Trump comes in and kills it he can change that inevitability.
