Even if she does manages a miracle, she is a pariah to her own party. She couldn't round up the support for her Hail Mary legislation. Imagine how marginalized she will be in a Republican controlled Senate. Why hang on?
Why not go home to her cozy basement apartment in her daddy's house and gather money and supporters for Vitter's seat?

A majority of louisianians voted for the republicans as their next senator with Maness and Cassidy's totals combined, not the democrats.

Mary doesn't have a shot in hell.

Because strange things happen sometimes. She's one untimely injury or death away from a possible re-election and her party's memory can be very short. If she got back in, she could just hang low for a while until it cycles back her way.

Why would she quit? It's not like she's playing with her own money.

I'm no fan of Mary, but would you voluntarily walk away from your career without putting up a fight?

Especially as Landrieu operatives are presently trying to plant a dead girl and/or live boy in Cassidy's bed.

During the vote on Keystone, one of the cable news channels kept showing the Senate floor. Poor Mary stood there, in the well, alone most of the time. The other Senators were all chatting one another up.

Occasionally she and Senator would chat, but she looked like a close relative to the deceased at a wake. It was as if the other Senators were saying, "I'm so sorry for your loss."

If she would've done this grandstanding against Obamacare like her constituents wanted, she probably wouldn't need a runoff.

thank you for the literalist, non-responsive answer. And, your response isn't really accurate. The decisions of the people of Louisiana resulted in a run-off. but only 43% decided Mary should be in the picture. And it's pretty clear even that losing number is faltering.

we'll make sure to page you again next time we need a stupid pedantic response. happy wednesday.
