It's a made up term. It's the left's attempt to try and bridge traditionally oriented whites with skin heads and he KKK.
In Europe, white nationalism is a movement of anti immigration, of all kinds not just illegal, and racial politics.
The left wants to paint the right in this light so badly because they are the ones whom view everything through he prism of race and identity politics. It's a cheap and lazy way to try and discredit and demonize anyone who doesn't believe in everything the progressive agenda espouses

I think some posters are rejecting that there is a distinction because they view the distinction as a creation of liberal propaganda and invalid. They are free to hold that opinion, but if you google white nationalism it's pretty clear that it is its own movement with an already widely accepted definition. At the next of the day, anyone who refers one self as a white nationalist does so at the risk of being labeled incorrectly if in fact they are merely a nationalist who happens to be white.
