Why don't we wage war with Mexico

I'm suprised no republican candidate mentioned this. If we go to war with Mexico, we could use their capitulation as a bargaining tool.
Terms such as maintaining stronger borders or possibly have a proxy state where immigrants can live under US advisory without being citizens.
We could even harness their resources to expand our economy.
Any thoughts.

But even for the neoconservative war mongering, this is stupid. Bullying a politically friendly but inferior nation, that doesn't really even have the "spoils of victory" is a terrible idea.

What would be the upside? We would have to occupy it forever, or turn it back over and let the same people take over.

We have reasons to alright. They have made no effort to stop a criminal enterprise that takes refuge within their borders. They smuggle poison in here using Mexico as a base. Poison and illegal immigrants.

We are the US, we can make up a reason. Offer them a trade deal that we know they will abuse. Accuse them of harboring ISIS terrorists.
Maybe even blame them for the cartel of drugs ruining our lower class citizens health and by extension causing us to have higher health care cost

Now they we've determined War with Mexico is stupid, let's look at our northern neighbor.
Benefits of war (and eventual victory) with Canada include:
1. A homage to John Candy and the film Canadian Bacon.
2. Can add hockey to the list of sports that we dominate.

If Trump wanted war with Mexico, I honestly feel he would have plenty of backers.
I'm not saying we should do it, but what's the alternative. The Mexican GOVT won't listen to us unless we force them

They do nothing to crack down on illegal drugs entering the country
They do nothing, in fact encourage, their poorest and least educated and least skilled citizens from illegally entering America.
If you ask me those are more legitimate reasons than Iraq maybe having WMDs, or aiding terrorists fight Assad or bringing down Qaddafi just so a politician can have a foreign policy win to hang her hat on.
ETA: I don't necessarily support. War with Mexico. I support sealing the border until we get our immigration and entitlement house in order. I'm just giving the reasons for, which are more legitimate than of the other excuses we've used for our recent wars.
