Skin pigment doesn't guarantee a murderer.

So every single black person in New Orleans is a murderer. Gotcha.

The no snitch culture here plays a role in that, too.

It's always been an "anything goes" type city. Las Vegas, too. Well, after the mob took over gambling, at least.

Not saying I disagree, but do you have an insight as to why?

It's a legitimate question.

that all goes back to our completely broken criminal justice system up at Tulane and broad

I know over two handfuls of people over the years that did less than 5 years for shooting someone because they almost always get their charges dropped to aggravated assault... and I know several that have gotten out after shooting someone just to get killed in the first few months out as a retaliatory killing..... when the justice system doesn't throw away violent offenders, why and the hell would you take a chance of snitching on a violent person? I wouldnt

The justice system here is all street justice. I think the real justice system just relies in the streets tk sort it all out.

i would agree if the violence stayed centralized

that argument works a LOT better in place like BR where it's easy to say "let the thugs sort it out and don't waste my money" when the thugs are primarily isolated to NBR and Gardere

I remember hearing stories of Katrina evacuees going to Houston and thinking they could operate their crime culture in Houston like they could in NOLA. I remember seeing an interview with a Houston detective where he was saying that the prisoners were super cocky because they thought the, IIRC, statue of limitations laws that were in place in NOLA were the same as they were in TX. He said they were shocked when they found out they weren't getting away with the shite they pulled back home.

there are about as many answers on page that deal with history as the "black people" response

which isn't that bad of a ratio considering black people are responsible for like 95%+ of the violent crimes in Nola

"60 day rule" not the SOL

i know exactly what you're talking about fwiw

they thought they were getting out on day 61 and then were shocked to learn TX had no such rule

Ah, thanks for the clarification.

What are the details of the 60 day rule?

I wanna say I saw it on one of the Gangland shows.

I saw this discussed on Gangland or something. If they can't go forward with trial in 60 days they let them go or something like that? It's been a while.
