Why do some democrats think single payor is a bad approach compared to ACA?

Lots of establishment Dems seem to not be accepting warren's and Bernie's call for the party endorsing single payer as opposed to fixing and mantaining the ACA.

Politically, it wouldn't be difficult to sell it: just say it will be funded by taxes on rich and businesses and hype the savings on no premiums or deductibles.

2016 showed partly that people like bold color ideas rather than pastel wonky convoluted Policy talk.

What do establishment Dems fear?

No single payer will happen for the same reason repubs won't repeal Obamacare.

Too many make bank from Obamacare.

Because many Democrats are still capitalists and believe that the Democratic Party is supposed to be the party of a kindler gentler capitalism. As Hillary and Nancy said they are capitalists.

Warren and Bernie are pushing the party to the left and eventually the Dems will move to the left and embrace single payor.

Single payor is the only way out of our current health care mess. If Trump can make it happen, I may be going in the direction of the dark side.

You're right, we're gonna need a lot of folks to die quickly if this shitty system is to be kept kicking. The poor folks, especially, need to go. A federalized, comprehensive healthcare system is the best way for this to happen.

Yeah, its really hurting European medicine. Canada too. You do realize that part of being "woke" is noticing that social and capitalist practices can coincide in a first world society. Maybe open your f****** eyes you idiot

And one who, might I add, has repeatedly shown to be completely deft of even the most basic understanding of fundamental economics.

100 years of attempts say you are wrong.

Names that attempted or were highly sympathetic to some form of single payer:

- Teddy Roosevelt
- FDR
-Truman
-JFK
-LBJ
-Clinton

All failed.

other then that, believe it or not, people within party's do occasionally have different beliefs on what is the best path forward.

You do realize that economics is not capitalism. That socialism and capitalism are both within the realm of economics as a field of study. Your problem is that you equate economics with capitalism and those are related but two distinct things.

Part of understanding a culture of ideas is embracing that you dont have to subscribe to an entire system overhaul by accepting one idea.

Ralph is a self-admitted communist. I'd wipe my arse with his political posts if it was practical. I'm not against a Singaporean style of public healthcare service, provided we fix a lot of other problems first.
