And while I'm in a question asking mood...why do gays hate Trump, the most pro-gay President elect ever?

For the most part they don't hate him personally. It's all the uber social conservative nutjobs he's surrounded himself with. Every single one of this Cabinet picks have a sordid history of opposing gay rights. Some of them vehemently like his Vice President.

I think it's because we let so many Christian refugees in through the years. They seem like they would be the more immediate religious threat to gay rights. These Jesus worshippers have already built a block big enough to coopt a whole major political party to push their agendas on others.

Gay has nothing to do w it. They are "Progressives" first and foremost, so anything that is percieved to be pro- individualism is enemy number one to these True Believing collectivists.
This is an excellent point. It's been proven over and over that whatever singular identity "cause" they claim to champion, their "progressivism" outranks it. They are leftists first and foremost.

That's why ZERO feminists support republican women and very few blacks support republican blacks.

Gays and blacks treat intra-intellectual diversity like it's AIDS or their own children, respectively. Thinking independently makes you an Uncle Tom to them, which couldn't be more ironic.

I am a feminist, and I support republican women.

Virtually every person on this board is a feminist, and most of them support republican women.

I also love hearing from other gays how Republicans are the greater existential threat to them than Islam.
Depends on how you look at it, though most of the people you're talking about ignore or don't know that GWB eagerly put more money into AIDS research than any President ever has.

Back to your point: Republicans in power, in our lifetimes, have denied or openly attempted to deny gays their Constitutional rights as stated in the 14th amendment. And of course, Islamists want gays killed. The ratio of Republicans to Islamists in the United States is so large that you can reasonably conclude that, at least up until the same sex marriage decision, Republicans were a bigger problem for the gays then Islamists were.

1) that is a lie, making you, Toddy, a liar
2) opposing gay marriage is not the same as opposing equal treatment under the LAW (prior to SCOTUS decision)

I don't know...the text of the 14th Amendment has been the same since it was ratified. Also, SCOTUS has referred to marriage more than 10 times as a human right. Opposing the marriage of two people because their junk looks too similar seems like an opposition to equal treatment.

What's being a gay conservative like? Are you ostracized by your peers for your opinions, or is it all good?

I actually know a homo that hates conservative gays but hates islam as well but then again he's one of those consistent militant atheists.

He's kind of like a gay bill maher.

The government should recognize gay and straight marriage but beyond that I don't think marriage is any of the governments business. Church's shouldn't have to marry gay couples but they are free to go elsewhere.

Cool expect he didn't.

He ran on the Trump platform.

And a platform at a party convention is just that, a platform. It's not legally binding and subject to change the next four years by the winning administration.

“I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage."

Obama in October 2008

“I’ve just concluded that for me , personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.

ballscaster, this where liberalism goes too far.

Being for full and equal treatment of gays, including all tax rights, protections, etc. of a civil union, and NOT wanting them to get a marriage certificate is a perfectly reasonable and decent opinion to hold.

And that opinion is one that gets conservatives labeled as homophobic and anti-gay. And that labeling is part of why Trump won. Same as when a conservative opposes illegal immigration and is called a xenophobic bigot.

The militant gay population will only be happy when we all consider their lifestyle "perfectly normal and an awesome choice, to be applauded by all -- group hugs!". In fact, it is an abnormal choice, but abnormal in the sense that the skillset of an NBA player is an abnormal one in the overall population.

Note in that last paragraph, I sad "militant gays" not all gays.
