Interestingly, Dallas has a D mayor while Ft. Worth has a Republican mayor.

Dallas's violent crime is 0.1% higher than Ft. Worth's, which translates to about 100 more violent crimes per 100,000 people. Although Dallas's density is almost 80% greater too.

Dem governed cities can also thrive. I think the correlation you are looking for between political affiliation and crime can better be explained by the correlation between poverty and crime rates.
