That's what I never understood - tactically speaking why would you accept the yoke of this bill when you could pass it off to your frenemy Paul Ryan and ratchet up the populist disgust among your base?

Trump could have had a win/win personally if he'd played a wiser hand. Instead he publicly went all in with a clearly weak hand and looks ineffective now.

because he promised an uneducated voter base he was gonna drain the swamp when he's really just trying to pad he and his friends pockets.

That narrative really pisses me off - he clearly risked a TON to run for president and almost lost.

Think about how badly the lives of he and his kids would have changed if he had lost - social events would have been halved or worse, businesses would've taken a disastrous blow. Reputations would have been charred.

Just using common sense, Trump ran for altruistic reasons.

His quality of life would have taken a disastrous blow. Half or more than half the people in his social circles (way more for Ivanka and the 3 other adult kids) would have been turned against them.

Rich people have huge problems too. Just because you're a billionaire doesn't mean that your world can't be turned upside down.

You're right on both accounts, Hillary and her sycophants would not have stopped until he was ruined, of course she would have plunged America in to dictatorship lite with a stacked SCOTUS and a pansy arse congress. She would have EO everything with no opposition, so Trump would just be the lead casualty among us all.

Trump could have let the cuck republicans own the failure, but instead tried to reach out to wolves in sheeps clothing, with the wrong assumption that they wanted to right the ship. His intentions were good, but he should have strategized as if they were the opposition from the start. Any outsider would be in this spot. The only silver lining is that he needs to see the elitist for who they truly are moving forward. Shut the government down and make hella cuts, frick the cucks, they don't have our presidents best interest anyways. It's time to lay down some party discipline on these spineless pussies.

But if we can all see that why couldn't he? Well over half of his MAGA base was rooting for this bill to fail.

Maybe he's just so addicted to "winning" that he felt big picture that was the most important.

Honestly he likely fell for the lying sack of shite politicians the same way the people that voted them in have. He may have thought he could work with them, hell, I hoped he could too. They're a bunch of snakes and they conned him the same way jr got conned by meeting with Obama's bait. He needs to regroup and go in without any lubricants next time.

because now he can say "I supported your crap bills and you still couldn't pass it so now repeal it and figure it out."

How could he possibly have pushed for what is needed with the 15 or so swish moderate Republicans in the Senate?

Tax reform and infrastructure should have been first. It was a strategic blunder.

He didn't read them or take the time to learn what was in them. He was only interested in passing something he could claim as a legislative win.

Most important thing is Tax Reform and Infrastructure mate

Maybe even get another Justice by Midterm. That would be an incredible feat for the President. Come back after the midterms and you should have enough Republican Senators to repeal Obamacare. By then it will be dead.

Bottom line is the President isn't a legislator and he is at the mercy of Ryan and McConnell. The American people needed to see what a bunch of lying scumbags the Republicans are imv. Trump needs to put up some wins on the scoreboard is the only way to offset this.

I hope that wasn't your whole point because I never claimed otherwise. He's my president, not my dictator, and thus he's open to criticism.

Any fool can see that politicians are lying sacks of shite. Why can't Trump?
