He had everything laid out in that room in a way that made sense to him

I think he had been buying guns for years, not always with this in mind.

I would like to know what is in his collection. Is it all tactical type weapons?

just don't think it makes any sense to have that many when you are planning what happened in Vegas

It seems excessive to me as well. The only thing that comes to mind is that he intentionally stocked that room with a wide variety of guns and components that he legally purchased. It certainly gives gun control advocates a laundry list of things the public shouldn't have access to. There's the sheer number of guns, the types of guns, the size of the magazines, and the bump stocks just to name a few.

Do you have more than one vehicle? You can only drive 1 at a time. Perhaps we should limit the number of vehicles anyone can own.. No more collectors..

Some of you are taking this the wrong way. I'm perfectly fine with anyone having 23, 230, or 2300 weapons if they want them. I just am confused why someone would tote 23 weapons up 32 floors.

Because he purchased them legally after passing background checks at reputable gun stores.

I'd assume that's why he used .308 as well.

Have they said what caliber he was using yet?

I actually think that is a possibility

I think his intent was to use as much of the ammunition he brought up to that room. He had camera's set up outside of his room to alert him of approaching law enforcement officers. So its safe to say if they didn't come up when they did he would have fired off more rounds then he did.

That's something that has made me wonder, although I admit I haven't read all the details and watched the videos during the shooting. How would he have time to monitor the camera while handling that many weapons and firing so many rounds?

I know, funny ain't it. I will just sit in the corner with my 30 years of infantry/FAST experiences and watch, learn, and listen from the "experts."

Not sure of that answer but I'm sure it will come out eventually. I would guess he had a monitor close by that was within sight.

Because when you shoot 100 rounds through a gun in 10 seconds or less the gun gets very hot and is more likely to malfunction. The barrel warps, ammo gets jammed, etc.

This guy knew that. He had the money, so why not? I agree over like 8 guns seems excessive, but again why not? He wasn't planning on living right?

Plus, the more guns he had pre loaded and ready, the faster he could mag dump. Reloading a 100 round mag doesn't take much time, but having the gun already locked and loaded is faster.

This is more like having 10 75 year old cars, and needing one to work in an emergency. Shite goes wrong, you want to make sure you have at least 1 that is definitely going to work.

We don't know that he was. Its possible the security guy just knocked on the door, and that caught him off guard.

Its very possible he just had the cameras so that when he knew the police did come, he'd have eyes out the door. He likely just looked on the monitors every 30 seconds or something.

It also would not be that hard to have the cameras displayed on the big arse flat screens in the room. I mean there was probably at least a 50 inch. Someone on a camera on a 50 inch tv is going to catch your eye.
