She is right as we have learned form 8th grade civics, the check on the executive in is the legislative and judicial branches. The legislative branch can check the executive by impeaching, removing, stripping immunity and criminally charging the executive. The judicial can check the executive by simply stating no standing or many other rulings that check the executive.
The American people can check the executive by voting him out.

IMO, congress can strip an "officer" and that includes the president of immunity through the impeachment clause. I believe that is where SCOTUS is going with this case. That is the legislative check against an out of control executive.
