I could actually see Thomas stepping down since he's already been in 25+ years and doesn't seem to want to end up like his late friend, Scalia

I'm hoping RBG... I hope that Gorsuch does something so appalling in her eyes, she just rolls over right in the chamber.

Can't predict death but I could see Thomas stepping down. Kennedy as well.

Maybe Kennedy. I read a few weeks ago that he was a bud of Gorsuch and might want to hang around long enough until Gorsuch learns the ropes.

Probably RBG, followed by Kennedy and/or Thomas

remember all the articles out that the radical loony left were wanting to send RBG an apple a day or something; as they were so worried she'd die?

Don't know who's next, but before long they're going to have to change the name to the Trump Court.

I wish Kagan would fall in love with a young intern, male or female, and sail away to the bungalow currently being occupied by Obama.

He was his boss. Gorsuch is thoroughly familiar with "the ropes" having worked for two different justices (rare).

It'll take him all of the rest of this term to figure out how the conference works (clerks don't participate in that) and learn to shut up and open the door for all the other judges (Kagan is probably super pumped that job is over).

As to the OP, Ginsburg won't leave unless she dies. If we are talking about voluntarily leaving, my money is on Thomas. IMO, Kennedy will not want to leave with the possibility of a Pryor replacing him after the nuclear option.

So long as Kennedy and/or Thomas don't pull a RBG and stay around just long enough for the Dems to take the White House back.

If you are going to resign, then resign sooner than later, so that a 19 year old ultra-Conservative judge that makes Scalia sound like Chairman Mao can take the chair.

RBG can barely keep her eyes open. I think she'll step down or pass away in the next few years. Kennedy can't be too,too far behind.

I predict at least one SCOTUS Justice will be removed via impeachment of Congress-- or resign first. Due to: a scandal that comes out of ObamaSpyonEveryoneGate that shows they are subject to blackmail.

If Trump wins reelection in 2020, then the question of Ginsburg hanging on will be moot. I don't wish death on anybody, but I believe she will be replaced during Trump's first term.

thomas is only 68 kennedy is 80, that's been the rumor that he wants to retire, that would set 5-4 in stone RBG gets the bucket it's 6-3 in perpetuity.

I can see this too. Giving Trump a chance to put a young gun on the Court (or, at least, a younger gun).

In descending order:

Ginsburg
Kennedy
Breyer
Thomas

I would really prefer Kennedy go first. His desire to be the swing vote has grown very tired and he's been the lead on some shitty jurisprudence. RBG is a non-factor if Kennedy wasn't there to give the libs 5.

Kennedy and Ginsburg are 80+. Breyer is older than Scalia upon his death.

But Ginsburg is going down faster!

Would be great to replace those three with forth something fire breathing conservatives.

Thanks Reid/Schumer!

I'm rooting for RBG to pass in her sleep sometime in the next couple years
