I'd reach across the aisle and invite Joe Manchin.

His SOTU addresses are absolutely painful to watch and listen to.

I would welcome any of them across my threshold. I'd be polite and hospitable but certainly ask some tough questions. Even though I despise what they do...they're still humans.

Almost any of them (minus rabid abortionists or militant atheists). Politicians really aren't some uniquely evil class of people. They are also better educated, more intelligent, and more personable and engaging than the average Joe. Some of the most interesting stories ever relayed to me came from politicians.

I don't know if she really qualifies as a politician but Condi Rice would be welcome in my home anytime.

I'd have Gowdy over for a cup of soup And GWB for a beer.

Quick funny story - there is a restaurant here near me where 41 and his family used to go eat. I had some friends in from NOLA and we went to this restaurant and I told them that sometimes 41 would be there eating and they said "yea whatever". Sure enough, we walk in and are ordering and Pres Bush comes up to us and we talked to him for about 5 minutes There was probably 3-4 secret service suburbans in the parking lot too.

Only a handful of politicians seem genuinely out to do what is best for their constituents instead of what is best for themselves to maintain or grow power and/or wealth. Those few I trust to be genuine and would invite into my home gladly for a beer, even if I do not agree with everything they stand for, are George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, and Ron Paul. That is probably about it. I may be missing some and these guys are obviously prominent.

I like Jindal, unlike many here, but I do not think he is out for anyone but himself. As his interests mostly align with mine, it has not negatively impacted me for the most part.

Bill Cassidy since I have a Liver Disease condition and would tap his expertise about liver diseases while discussing why the out of pocket expenses for ACA goes up by 45%!

First one that came to mind. She seems like an incredibly interesting person.

Bill Clinton.

C'mon, that guy would be a blast to hang out with. He'd probably bring his own blow and call girls.
