Which politician would you welcome to your home?

I have less respect than ever for politicians.

I was in a discussion yesterday about my growing cynicism with a friend. We were siting on the back porch. So it came up just what politician would we take the time to get up from our comfortable seats on the back porch to welcome to our front door? If Mary Landrieu knocked on the front door would we get up to answer it?

I would like to have lunch with both the Bushes just to hear stories and ask about how decisions were made. I think EWE would be a very interesting guy to have lunch with too. Ron and Rand Paul would be cool to visit with. After that I really don't care for any of them or find any of them very interesting.

I talked to Jindal a couple times and the vibe was not good. Very robotic and aloof. I don't think he does well off script. My impression is outside of politics he is pretty much a social clod and a poor conversationalist.

Who would like some time with?

None.

I'm afraid some of my most precious belongins would go missing along with my pet ending up pregnant.

Shocked that you threw this in here. My experience is the opposite with Jindal. He's a funny guy.

On the other hand, Sam Brownback is the most boring person on Earth. He is the Anti-Charisma

The rest can get fricked. I'm not including state level politicians, just national level

As much as I hate Obama, I'd love to sit down with him and have a political conversation with him. I respect him for what his oratorical skills and I think he would be a hell of a debater while just sitting with someone one-on-one.
Plus, I bet he's probably cool as hell.

But yea, if the GOP screws themselves again in 2016...

He doesn't have any. This is just the liberal way around calling him "well spoken"

Bobby Jindal. I'd log on to the Rant and we'd read every one of your threads and have a good chuckle.

without hesitation - Mitt Romney.

There is not a (better man in the form of a national politician) in America than that man. How America could have turned their backs on this man is the most stupid act in the last 50 years.

(eta for OMGring)

Virtually all of them. Being an elected politician is very difficult. You have to make tough choices and there is an ocean of critics and a galaxy of internet know-it-alls that do nothing but arm-chair quarterback you.

Most of them want to do the right thing. They just differ from me in what the "right thing" is, or on their tactics of achieving it.

as much as I didn't like bush, and don't look on his presidency with any particular fondness

I did feel that he was very genuine...and easily would like to have him

billy bob has a good rapport with most anyone (really unbelievable with names, faces, etc. my dearly departed family friend was very close with the Clintons) He seems like a nice guy, but that could all be polish.

bush sr, just because he has probably lived a fascinating life. ww2 pilot, ivy league sports (when they mattered), met the babe, head of CIA, president...I bet that guy has some stories.

moon Landrieu so I can do what father time refuses to.

I don't know what his current health situation is, but I would love to meet with and talk to George Herbert Walker Bush. More than anything, I would want to hear about his WWII experiences. I love that generation.

Unlike some idiot who once said, "They just need to die," I wish those great people could be with us forever. That generation, which is already mostly gone, will be sorely missed.
