McConnell is more prudent than Ryan he doesn't want to be caught out on a limb after giving too much credence to Trump Administration spin.

I don't know if McConnell was present at the closed door Senate meeting with Dir. Comey on 2/17 but he was almost certainly briefed on it. And nobody from that meeting has come to the admin's aid on any question of Russian connections. They're avoiding a listing--not quite sinking--ship.

There's definitely something in his tax returns he doesn't want us to see, but I'd say it's probably that he has paid little to no income tax his entire life instead of any massive Russian conspiracy.
