When did you first realize that Trump could/would win the election?

So kind of two questions in the title. I kind of did a trip up memory lane this weekend to find this out, with this board being a good source for that. It never really crossed my mind in 2015 that he would win. I remember him coming to Dallas that year and laughing my arse off that this freakshow thought he could become the next President and would then be out in 2 or 3 months. But I was thoroughly enjoying it.

Then I think I started getting perplexed in October when I made this thread: Do Donald Trump supporters actually exist? I had yet to meet one at that point and thought I was just not in on some kind of sick joke that was starting to get old.

The first one I found this on 3/20 and tons of people were mocking the idea that Trump could be President, and at this point I was pretty convinced he could win:

quote:

I would agree with you, but everyone with a brain didn't think we would make it this far. I think Trump sadly could feasibly be the next President of the United States. If there is a major terrorist attack on American soil by the election, Trump will win. No one has any faith in Hilary which is why we see the support for Bernie. She's just seen as the status quo and who we need to vote for. If we see an Oklahoma City Bombing, or worse, a 9/11, then Trump will win. This is the most terrifying election in US history.

And then of course, the Orlando Massacre happened, and Hillary and Obama responded to it pathetically. Although I think after the Third Debate I thought briefly Trump couldn't recover from it (especially due to Pussygate), then Comey happened. I think watching Maher the Friday before the election convinced me once and for all that he was going to win, the polls be damned.

What were yall's?

When the Dems decided the 2 main contenders were a hippy socialist and the most unlikeable evil woman on the planet.

I knew it because the polls, while they showed HIllary "ahead" were still pretty close, like 2-3% typically.

The media had absolutely gone off the deep in demonizing Trump and his supporters and it was clear to me that there was a non-trivial number of people who planned to vote for Trump but wouldn't admit it.

Also, the rally sizes were a good indication of the enthusiam gap.

Trump was doing 3-4 rallies a day and getting giganitc crowds. Hillary was doing like 1 rally a day and drawing typically less than 1/3rd of Trump's crowd.

Trump's supporters were on average much more enthusiastic than Hillary's were. Enthusiasm is great for turning out your people.

I still thought Trump would likely lose a close election (I thought he'd win most of the toss ups and lose like 280-260) but I knew there was at least a chance of him winning.

When the Hillary campaign cancelled her fireworks show on NOV 7 I knew she would lose.

Their internal polling must have shown they had lost or had a real serious chance of losing.

Probably his first rallies and the first debate where he handled Megyn Kelly's kill shot like a pro

When DNC rallied around the Hilldabeast I knew GOP would win.

When Trump slapped JEB down, I knew. But I wanted Cruz. Settled and mostly happy.

Around the conventions, and when Cruz and Paul got on board.

Until then, I thought Libertarians would take enough votes from him and that the blue wall would hold. It nearly did. I had a map for Trump winning, and thought it ran through Colorado in no small part. Clearly that was wrong.

I went back and forth, but I never thought he was out of it. From the convention on, I was worried there was a chance.

I still have to question anyone's intelligence and/or integrity who was on it after the Rapist Mexican speech. I don't blame anyone who voted for Trump in the general due to Hillary fricking Clinton, but I still have a hard time believing how people from the start gravitated more towards Donald Trump's message over Rand Paul's. Maybe in the Midwest, but that's really it.

Blacks gave cliton the big lead after south voted.
Still i expected super delegates to dump her after comey letters.
Super delegates own this travesty.
The elected politicians and party officials voted for her.
Boo. Its on them.

When he allowed Hillary to continue to be a candidate despite being a criminal or later?

All kidding aside, even though I thought that was the game changer at the time, I stand by my comments from earlier that year if there was a major terrorist attack in America that Trump would win. Trump won the election in Orlando and Hillary's incompetence in the aftermath, alongside her pathetic campaign in the Midwest. Trump would still be President if Comey had waited 3 weeks to release that information, I feel almost sure of it.

I knew he had a chance when he was doing like 4 rallies a fricking day.

Day after day just traveling with energy at every one of them.

His work ethic during the campaign for a 70 yr old was insane.

His last 2 weeks of campaigning hitting Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn hard made me believe there might of been something we weren't seeing in the polls.

After seeing how the Republicans have completely shite on Trump's agenda, I couldn't imagine how much of an impediment they would be with Rand, who's philosophy is even more diametrically opposed to the swamp. Depressing.
