Thanks for responding to the topic, move along please. The fact remains Costas is not a sports commentator who make political remarks, he's a full on leftist demagogue who uses sporting events as a platform.
uh no.

If some other network was covering the Olympics, and they had Rush Limbaugh spouting his conservative views, I'm sure VOR and asurob would be fine with that NOT
you guys are such hypocrites.

Well, you certainly convinced me with that statement.

I like how asking olympic officials about human rights issues in relation to their site selection is considered to be a "piece of shite" move by the perpetually offended right wingers of this board.
Doing so while actually in Russia during a time where people are paying attention to Russia is "not the right place nor time."
Maybe Hannity will ask the hard hitting questions in an upcoming interview with a high ranking official.

Actually, I loved monday night football with rush. I thought he got a shitty deal, because he was doing what they wanted him to do.

7:30 EST? But didn't the Olympics come on at 8:00 EST (7:00 CST)?
Dunno. A lot of the events are on tape delay, so maybe they're on at different times in different parts of the country?

I always consider where I am on the interweb anytime I see something so blatantly stupid.

Hypocrites? Look in the mirror, it's been right-wingers, not lefties who have been egging Obama on about confronting Putin.

wish Bach would have handled Costas the same way Nelson Mandela handled Ted Koppel when he tried to get sanctimonious with him.
I watched the Koppel interview after Mandela's death & Mandela 'handled' several people including that Adelman & Henry(?) Siegman especially.
The classic line from Mandela after he straightened out Koppel & the brief awkward silence:
"Mr Koppel , have I paralyzed you?"
In defense of Koppel, however , had he not pressed Mandela on those 'issues' of his friendship with Castro & support of the PLO/Arafat he would have been accused of a 'softball' interview in front of a mostly adoring crowd.

What does that have to do with costas and the olympics?

The point is that in the interview, Costas was doing the bidding of the neocons, not Obama.

Costas caught a case of whatever affliction Olbermann has.
Stick to what you do best. Leave the politics to people who actually deal with it day to day and sports to people who know sports.

What's "leftist" about needling the head of the corrupt IOC about choosing a cesspool of repression and human despair as the site for the Olympics?

It's a common thing. The sports guys, even when they reach the top of their profession are not taken seriously at Chattering Class cocktail parties. Thus to establish your "SERIOUS JOURNALIST" bona fides, one has to publically dabble in Liberal Establishment cause celebres.

Costas has been using his sports gig for a political platform for a while now, his questioning of the IOC is minor compared to his anti gun rant.

Should everyone in all non-political professions heed this advice, or does this line of thinking only pertain to sportscasters?

And why did Costas have to begin his question about Russian human rights problems with a mention of the USA's supposed human rights issues?
Nice, he trashes his own country as if by doing so gives him the right to ask about Russia?
