but the original group was not centered around white supremacy or Nazism

This week I've seen several alt-right original types condemning the infiltration of these fringe elements and advising that the alt-right somehow gain separation, if possible

You are misinformed. Richard Spencer formed the Alt-Right, so it always has racist overtones.

I think it was Phil Valentine that was discussing this Friday. His take was they keep driving it until the "Alt-Right" is 100% pure evil in every way, racist, homophobe, etc...then the start removing the "Alt" from it and....

Racism is merely a tool, a filter. It has no morality.

It can however be used for morally bad or good purposes, but that is dependant on the user.
