I don't think we had drones back then, dude.

The U.S. first targeted a suspected terrorist with a lethal drone strike in 2002. On November 5, 2002, a US Predator Drone fired a hellfire missile at a car traveling through the Mar’ib province of Yemen, destroying it and killing the six people inside.

1. The operations in Afghanistan should have been purely punitive, no nation building.
2. Once AQ fled into Pakistan the operations into Pakistan should have been punitive as well, not the under the radar stuff we tried to do and are still doing.
3. In relation to Iraq, we should have told Saddam we made a mistake in 1990 and it was time for him to take down the Islamists in Saudi Arabia, the home of the majority of the terrorists and helped him do it.

We should have blown up the House of Saud and ended the Federal Reserve.

There are a lot of parallels between them and the Japanese. Willing to die for their beliefs. Trained from birth to believe martyrdom is the ultimate glory. Suicide attacks. Medieval worldviews. Unwillingness to surrender.
A lot's been written about the vast psychological impact - the "show of force." There is merit to it. Nobody wants nuclear destruction, but that doesn't mean it's not our best long term option.

Wiped Afghanistan off of the map and NOT used Pakistan to do it. Told SH that if he even so much as sneezed wrong or impeded UN inspectors his arse was next. And the most important because their hands were all over it is to have told the House of Saud that it would be a cold day in hell before the US or any of our allies bought another quart of their oil.

Nuked Afghanistan for 9/11
Hunt down and kill every living member of the families of the 9/11 attackers, along with Bin Laden's and Al-Zawahiri's.
Nuked Medina, and then publically announce that if one of the adherents of that gutter religion so much as gave a wedgie to an American citizen, Mecca would be next.

I like that plan right now.

I agree with much of what is being said.
Going into Afghanistan was the right thing to do. However, we needed to kick arse and leave. We didn't leave.
Sanctions were crushing Iraq. If we would have kept this going we could have demanded that Saddam do what we wanted. There was no need for an all out war.
I think we should cut off and re-evaluate the money we send to any foreign country.
Frankly, I think the Saudi's need to fricking prove themselves and get involved in being a real ally. If not, frick them.

The US should have deposed the Taliban for harboring Al Qaeda and hunted down the Al Qaeda leadership. Bin Laden shouldn't have been killed a couple of years ago, he should have been killed 13 years ago.
Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11 and the toppling of Iraq completely destabilized the region and created a new void for radicals to hide in.

It's still funny that you think this would be viable or that the oil would go unsold.

When we had Osama cornered in Afghanistan, not leave it up to the Northern Alliance to take him out (they of course let him escape) kill him, move our people out of Saudi Arabia (which we did), open up drilling everywhere we can, wean ourselves off the Middle East, GTFO, and no care about Saddam or Afghanistan.

Saddam violated his cease fire agreement, when a country sets a red line and ignores it ( like the pussy Obama did ) we see that evil leaders are quick to catch on and take advantage. Liberal pussies like TT9 have no concept of this, they see the world in make believe pastel colors.
We should have given those muslim bastards who ARE FUNDING & HARBORING the terrorists 30 days to round the terrorist thugs up, or else we are going to nuke your large cties all over the Arab world.
Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Pakistan, etc. are all responsible for 9/11 as they are funding these radicals and harboring them.
You either round them up are we are going to destroy all of you ignorant bastards.
Instead of getting behind our troops and our president in a time of war you have traitors who undermined our cause, even after they voted on the wars, these commies, led by the commie newspapers and other commie traitors, whose main goal in life is to change America into a perverted, backward country, with zero morals, by packing the courts with radical leftists.
When this country goes under, which will be shortly, these left wing fools will finally be seen for who they really are, COMMIES TRAITORS.

Look, everyone . . . a US nuclear response to 9/11 is simply unrealistic and could never happen.
Come on, you've got to revise your solutions to the problem. "Use Nukes" is a cop-out. That's just totally unrealistic.
I am not going to marry Jennifer Lawrence and the USA is never going to use a nuclear weapon in response to a conventional armed attack.

We're talking about the best option, not the most realistic
