What is Trump using this "triggering" as cover for?

He tends to do this either before or after he does something controversial, like pull out of the Paris Accord.

My money is on him pulling out of the Iran deal in the coming days.

Any other predictions?

Why do you say that?

He has done this before. He causes the news to drop and pickup new topics so quickly that they are unable to cover them properly.

There are even articles about that, at least there were during the election.

Combine that with his most recent tweet about Iran launching a ballistic missile and I suspect that deal will be gone soon.

Iran, Paris Accord, and the healthcare bill failing in the Senate.

He's all id. Sometimes his impulsiveness intersects with major policy announcements but most of the time it doesn't.

There is no masterplan here.

That would make this all the more hilarious.

Especially since the Democrats cannot seem to capitalize on any of it.

Targeting millionaire sports ball players is relatively safe at this point in time considering where ESPN and the NFL currently are sitting in society's eyes.

Incredibly petty, but safe.

Seems like the only people triggered this weekend are Trump and his supporters. Been a good weekend for the good guys.

Or when he's fricking up and/or is about to take an L. Not that those are exclusive of him doing "something controversial."

I'm not sure why Democrats would want to try to capitalize on that. There's nothing in it for them.

Seems like being his best buddy on actual policy is a better use of their time.

Sure they are triggered, but it seems that the NFL players are shaking as well.

They see it only as a racial attack, which is why they are so up in arms.

I agree with the idea that it was extremely petty and below the position of the presidency.

Agreed.

I don't think there is much sympathy for millionaire football players out there.

Less likely to happen than Kap standing for the anthem.

If only more of them posted here for us to make fun of. Guess we'll have to make due with what we have.

I doubt that is completely true.

Then again, every Republican who has run for the presidency during my lifetime has been labeled an "idiot".

Buffoon? Sure. Braggadocious douche? Alright.

I doubt he is an "abject idiot".

NFL players have been given a golden opportunity by the POTUS to unite on the high ground. Trump basically just took people who were on the fence and made them side with the players nation wide.

Against what? They will all kneel to protest Trump?

Based on what?

The other possibility is that this pushes them to become even more political, resulting in more people turning off the game.

Look, the only thing that matters is the fan response.

Either people will watch or they won't.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
