The guy is like a flaming liberal now. I supported Trump early on for practical reasons:

1. I did not what Jeb.
2. Besides Jeb only Trump had a clear path to the nomination that the GOPe did not foresee. They assumed Trump would drop out early. That was the key assumption in their calculus and that assumption was wrong.
3. I knew Trump had the best shot of of all the GOP candidates of beating Hillary. Why? The "blue wall" (WI, MI, & PA). Trump broke the blue wall. No other GOP candidate could have accomplished that. The closest IMO would have been Rubio, but in the end his GOPe formula message would have failed in those blue states. Trump's protectionist leaning message won those states.
4. At the time I knew Trump leaned left of some issues that I was not comfortable with, like healthcare. I reasoned with myself that it's okay to support Trump because not only is he MUCH more conservative than Hillary the GOP congress would check Trump right. Additionally I liked his very conservative approach to immigration and his philosophical support of unilateral trade deals (which lead to the nixing of TPP, yeah!).

To almost everyone's surprise Trump won. Now in his presidency I was expecting Paul Ryan to check Trump and push him right. In Trump's first couple of months Paul Ryan has done nothing of the sort. The opposite seems to be happening. Paul Ryan is pulling Trump left as evidenced by Obamacare lite (i.e., Ryancare) and his proposed BAT.

WTF has happened to Paul Ryan?

Why would you assume that? He has no real power to check the President.

AHCA was the Price bill, which was conservative, but they made some concessions to the cucks in order to attempt to survive.

BAT surprised me, but was likely made as an overture to the rising protectionist/populist wing of the party.

D.C. has a way of getting to people. Once they live in the beltway bubble many people forget what we on the outside go through daily.

Nothing. You've had him pegged wrong all along. He's still the same milquetoast fake he's always been.

all I know is that at the moment they are handing the 2020 presidential election to the Dems or even possibly a libertarian on a silver platter.

D.C. has a way of showing who the phony bitch-made punks are. Just takes time.

I am disappointed as well...but not surprised at all.

McConnell and Ryan need to go ... badly.

Did you see the difference in tax credits for regular Americans vs the top 1% for the AHCA? What about that seems liberal to you?

What happened to almost all the Tea Party candidates would be a better question. They probably took the money and ran with it.

They don't want to have to endure the BS that conservatives have to endure. The left tries to destroy every conservative. Many don't want to drag their families through that. I certainly wouldn't.

Only on the Poli Board.

At some point we need to agree on a definition for that word. It seems to mean "whatever I believe in" around here, while "flaming liberal" is "everyone who disagrees with me."

this was the hill we're fighting on.

Outpatient care—the kind you get without being admitted to a hospital
Trips to the emergency room
Treatment in the hospital for inpatient care
Care before and after your baby is born
Mental health and substance use disorder services: This includes behavioral health treatment, counseling, and psychotherapy
Your prescription drugs
Services and devices to help you recover if you are injured, or have a disability or chronic condition. This includes physical and occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, psychiatric rehabilitation, and more.
Your lab tests
Preventive services including counseling, screenings, and vaccines to keep you healthy and care for managing a chronic disease.
Pediatric services: This includes dental care and vision care for kids

the 10 essential health benefits. if you get your insurance from your employer you have these benefits and have for nearly two decades.

did you really want to run in the mid terms on getting rid of those things.

you really want to have your congressman running in 2018 on having gotten rid of pre-existing condition coverage?

"and as your congressman i'm proud to say i got rid of maternity coverage!"

that's what you wanted?

Romney is a liberal. Why do you think Romney was so comfortable with Ryan?

I think he was approached with a support deal and sold out to establishment forces prior to becoming Speaker.

Will Serve as Speaker on if Party unites behind him
