I was playing around with the NY Times virtual map and created this scenario.

Then the election goes to the House of Representatives, where each delegation gets one vote. Trump wins.

House of Representatives vote for President, however vote is by state, not by member. So whichever party has the majority of reps in each state has the advantage.

I see now the vote goes to the House. I honestly do not know if the USA could survive if this was to happen

This is misleading.

a simple majority of states (26) based on representative districts wins.

Louisiana: 5-1 Trump (Trump win)
California: 33-20 Biden (Biden wins)

So it's 1-1 at that point. Both need 25 more.

easy Trump win.
