Mostly because she isn’t some vitriolic MAGA troll. The Alabama State Legislature has more than enough rubber stamp politicians on team fear porn. It’s nice to see an area near me push against that.

This is for a state rep position. Why are we even talking about this? I'm sure a democrat won dog catcher somewhere as well.

A bunch of out-of-state libs have started moving to Huntsville over the last few years. It's become like a mini-Austin, Texas.

Republicans greatly underestimate how important that is to a lot of people.

Yup. It continues to burn the GOP and the lesson isn’t really resonating. Instead Trump is hawking bibles to pay his lawyers.

As someone that lives in that district, I'm not surprised. Most of the conservative folks don't pay attention to politics unless it's the general election. I also "follow" the local subreddit for giggles and they really promoted the election and felt like they could win it spurring momentum.

On a side note: we need a sub-forum to this one called "local subreddit" and just post all the idiotic stuff they spew. It will be the most active forum on this site

You sound angry. Try watching less fear porn and getting out into the world. It’ll do you good and put a smile on your face.

Cheers

Trump only +1 in 2020 is pretty telling.

Can you elaborate about how you came up with this number? Alabama House District 10 does not match up with any single district or precinct used in the 2020 general election. In fact, it encompasses multiple Madison County precincts.

In 2022, Lands lost in the same district by 6.6%. This year, she just won by 25%.

Seems like a pretty stark turnaround if you ask me.

'Fear Porn' is primarily Biden's campaign strategy.

It truly is unbelievably amazing the importance so many people place on the right to legally murder unborn children.

The winning candidate ran heavily on this.

We keep getting good signs that the Republicans are in for a whipping in November because of their anti-choice religious zealotry.

Yea, frick the smart people who are providing literally all of Alabama's economic growth. Pussies.

You can simultaneously be wary of government’s potential for becoming overbearing or even tyrannical, and still support the practical necessity of defense development and funding. I remember when the right didn’t see a bogeyman around every corner.

We like science and technology. The idea that these things would be unwelcome in Alabama because of who is driving them forward is frankly an indictment of Alabama's culture of anti-intellectualism.

The media and liberal pundits are vehemently attempting to use this as a bellwether for “reproductive freedoms” heading into November.

Reality of what occurred … a special election that most Republicans didn’t GAF about—combined with the fact a few thousand Democrats showed up to scream about abortion—led to weak voter turnout. Dems in Alabama had an issue around which to rally; Republicans did not.

Regardless, Alabama and its voters ought to be ashamed.

I’m saying the UniParty® is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Deep State.

Both parties support — to varying degrees — endless bailouts, permanent welfare and perpetual warfare.

I’m further saying the focus on team jersey colors is an exercise in futility.
