He kind of dances around it in the interview, but I'm putting money on Ginsburg stepping down. Ole battle axe can't last forever.

quote:

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz told "Special Report with Bret Baier" Thursday that "I think the odds are very good" that a second seat on the Supreme Court will fall vacant this year. "If not this summer, next summer," Cruz told Bret Baier. "You know, judges don’t like it when people kind of nudge them out, so they’ll go when they decide to go." Cruz stressed that he had "no inside information" about any possible vacancy, but noted that "that most of my professional career has been as a Supreme Court litigator and I know the Court well."

It's not hard to figure that she is going to have to leave one way or another. She is already falling asleep half of the time.

It's been rumored for a couple of years that Kennedy has been weighing retirement.

I seriously doubt the Notorious RBG goes out standing up.

Having Kennedy go and be replaced by Trump would be nice.

I would guess Kennedy and Thomas retire under trump with Thomas being this summer. No way Ginsburg quits

A lot.

I think he is referencing Kennedy.

Hoping for Kennedy and Ginsberg to hang it up, but I expect Ginsberg to wait for the coroner to vacate the bench.

If only we could get rid of the other two lesbian fanatical socialists, we'd be better off.

She was strongly urged to step down when obama was in position to nominate another hard left type and she refused. She'll have to be carried out with Trump in office.

We need term limits for these people regardless.

I would rather have age limits than term limits. Judges must retire at 75 and nobody can be elected to congress after their 70th birthday. I mean there are age limits to get elected, 30 for senators and 25 for the house.

You need to thank Scalia. His ultimate act of evil was being friendly with Ginsberg so she would stay on the court as long as he was on it, but with his death, she is in a tough situation. She does not want Trump to name her replacement so she may be in an old folks home and still on the court.

No. We need term limits. As it stands now, there is nothing preventing them from overstepping their bounds, not even time. They should get 10 years max.

That old hag would die before letting Trump replace her. I hope he replaces her with a southern protestant white guy

Didn't she say yesterday that she does not plan on retiring? Someone showed it to me from nbcnews website.

Yeah, she really is still a sharp legal mind...I feel safer knowing she is on the bench.

And in year 9, I'm siding with the party in power on every case that comes before me.

Being insulated from political pressure through lifetime appointments is a good thing. There's a reasons the Framers made it that way.

Should we thank Antonin Scalia for being a gracious human being or for dying?

In any case Ginsburg isn't going anywhere until they carry her out of her chambers.

I suspect they have to carry her in now,

True. If the darling of the ACLU didn't retire in order to let Odummy choose her successor, she's surely going out in a fancy version of a pine box.
