What do you want to see happen in Afghanistan moving forward?

For me, it's a deescalation. I think we have roughly 8,400 troops there, and I would like for them to come home. It's time to let the Afghans sink or swim. They'll be overrun by the Taliban, and I would like to see Trump announce that we reserve the right to go back in and clean house of the Taliban let the country be used as a safe-haven for those who wish to do harm to America.

I don't agree with the use of private mercenaries/contractors, because the American taxpayer will still be footing the bill.

I think nation-building as we would define it as a a success is not possible in some parts of the world, and I think we've given it a valiant effort in Afghanistan. Time cut them loose and let them sink or swim on their own accord.

What do you want to see happen with Afghanistan going forward?

ETA: I don't mind if we keep a base there to have troops stationed in that part of the world, but I don't want to see American soldiers dispatched to take care of domestic Afghan problems.

Complete ramp up to defeat the enemy or die trying. We actually don't have the forces to accomplish it now so I hope today that President Trump announces reinstatement of the draft. A liberal only draft, liberals all across the U.S. will be enlisted and immediately shipped to Afghan to fight and likely die to win this Great War.

Get everyone out and don't send mercenaries.

I tend to agree but must monitor the situation closely. We saw what happened when Obama completely pulled out of Iraq and went to sleep at the wheel. Watch for terrorist training camps and bomb the shite out of them every time we see a cell developing.

There would be tons of land to claim bc we would have to take out most of Afghanistan and some of Pakistan.

I was starting to respond to your idea about a ramp up to win the war until I got to this point:

If the Taliban or whatever government is in charge allows it to become a safe haven for terrorists to plot against the US and the West, then that is a legitimate national security interest and we'd be justified in bombing them.

Trying to build a stable democracy in Afghanistan is not in the national security interests of the United States.

Bring everyone home with the understanding that if militias go there to play army, they will meet our drone army. Save billions on the war effort, cut the state department's budget in half, begin an infrastructure revitalization plan at home with the savings.

I would love a full withdrawal however I don't know if that is practical.

We wall off a huge air base and leave the rest of the place to the Taliban.

pull out.

see what kind of government foments. If there is a part of Afganistan that is trying to join the rest of the civilized world, but keeps getting attacked by the extremists, then go back and assist. via drove attacks mostly.

if the whole country goes back to Taliban/circa 2001. bomb it to hell the moment the whisper of a threat or attack onto American citizens.

First i would like to see Trump put out 3 diff versions on what he will say tonight. Give a diff version to diff groups in the white house. Tell them not to share and definitely not share with media. Whichever version ends up in news everyone in that group gets fired.

As for what i would like to see. Cut ties and save the lives and money and stop all nation building attempts overseas.

I'd like to see any and all representation of the United States removed from that country immediately. I am tired of this country being used to do the dirty work of those who seek to control the world.

If the international banking cabal wants to control their central bank, let them hire their own people to accomplish that goal. At least those hired would know what they're risking their lives for.

This would free up our military to defend this country and not special interests.

Same goes for the drug trade and the Petro Dollar. I'm tired of our best and bravest being used and placed in harm's way for those ruthless and evil bastards.

For as long as our dollar is so heavily tied to the buying and selling of oil, and a fascist international banking cabal that will stop at nothing to control the world's monetary system, there will always be Afghanistans, Irans, North Koreas, and Venezuelas.

Probably closer to 15 or 20k, they code orders for Kuwait and the units in processes in Kuwait then goes to Afghanistan. A dirty little trick.

Bagram and Kandahar airfields are both 10k feet dual use facilities. We need to keep those.

I've already posted it. The short story:

Withdraw except keep the air base.
The Taliban will take over as a political party just as before. They are not terrorists. They give terrorists a base.
If the Taliban let's a terror camp take hold, bomb the shite out of it. The Taliban will get the message and tell ISIS/Al Queda to go somewhere else.

To answer this question, I need to know what we're actually doing there.

We've been there going on 16 years and I still don't know what our endgame is, exactly. Surely we have one.

We fight half of the year when the weather permits over the same area that no one wants to keep the fighters away from civilian populations. Great use of billions of dollars.
