Supposedly he spoke to some of his Russian contacts about sanctions before he was actually appointed to a position of power and several weeks before the inauguration.
Vice President Pence believed at the time that Flynn was not truthful about his discussions. Apparently the White House got a hold of the transcripts from the calls today and now he's "flushed" out.
He flat out lied to the Trump transition team and the White House.

What Nixon did prior to the 68 election was far worse. Halderman's notes have been found to reveal that Nixon was tampering with the Viet Nam peace talks while still a private citizen, so that he could win the election. LBJ suspected it but couldn't prove it. The truth is out now. Essentially it was treason.

Uh....Flynn definitely made a serious error here, but his credentials fit the job (other than being a Democrat in a Republican administration).
