Before being sworn in he had some communication with Russian agents about things like the economic sanctions. That is frowned on as the Obama administration was still in office. Flynn lied to Pence about having that call. Pence don't play like that.

He lied to Pence, then Pence went on Sunday Morning shows and dug in. Cant lie to your bosses at that level.
