Look. I'm as partisan as the next guy. Or so i thought.
But i just watched a video on YouTube of Dave Wottle's 800m gold run in 1972.
What does the comment section look like? Well. A few comments on his come from behind style interspersed between dozens of left versus right carping.

As government continues to extend it's influence and outright control in ones life, who controls the government becomes hypercritical.
Politics has become as important as food, clothing, and shelter!

You have to remember that YouTube comments come mostly from young people and foreigners.
You don't know who the person is behind the keyboard.
Young people are brash and argumentative online. You also have young people from Canada, the UK, Russia, etc spreading their politics or anti-American politics in the YouTube comments.
A LOT of the anti-American comments on YouTube videos come from leftists from other countries.
Don't feel bad from YouTube comments.. it's just a bunch of idiots in the comments.

As much as the Prog/leftists despise conservatives, it is conservatives that save them from destroying all of us with their warped ideologies. They should acknowledge that fact and show reference and respect for the sane portion of society, the "Conservatives".

The division started to really ignite after 9/11 when we went to war in Iraq. Despite having Bush as POTUS, this country was pretty united after that event, then it all went to crap when it was realized by the MSM that the war could be used to push a political side (even though almost all of it's members voted to go into said war).
Before I'm blasted, I was supporting the "side" the MSM was pushing at this point in my life, so naturally I had no problem with it.
Couple with many politicians realizing divisive rhetoric could get them elected, and voila!
Now you have protests for anything, violence, and "mocking" is considered "winning" a debate on any subject. Combine all this with the PC/thought police and it is a perfect storm. Not to mention we got Obama, followed up by Trump. Two shite talking POTUSes.

These weren't largely Auntie American comments. Most of these degraded as result of people being offended the announcer referred to The Kenyan runners as Kenyan
