There's something sketchy going on here. I don't know if it's the VA just creating some rules out of thin air, people making up crap to be attention whores or some combination of the two but something about this feels like it's something other than what it looks like.

Definitely a slippery slope. I'm a big second amendment advocate but I've also worked at VA's in the past as a healthcare provider. Some of these vets are on a shite ton of mood altering drugs because of PTSD/anxiety/etc. I can honestly say I have had some degree of fear just being in the same room interviewing some vets like this. The idea of them as gun owners is a scary premise. Tough tough call - the potential for abuse is enormous.

I thought this was what the NRA was supporting. In lieu of general gun control, they said the problem was to mentally unstable having access to guns, not the guns themselves. So, someone determined as mentally unstable lost his rights.

There are a bunch of stupid fricks here apparently. NRA member here. I love my guns and my concealed carry permit. Supporter of Romney, Bush, and other Republicans. I also spent some time as a physician at the VA. Why the frick are you supporting this nut job with chronic pain and PTSD?
Let's focus our energy on keeping guns in the hands of non crazies, you stupid motherfrickers. You are probably the same dipshits who love those videos of guys open carrying in the suburbs. I cannot even believe how stupid some of you motherfrickers are. You can make the slippery slope argument for any issue. frickwads like you dummies hurt us normal gun owners in the long run. Any idiot can see that.
