Take a PT poll and ask the America First/MAGA types on this forum who would support any US taxpayer money to Ukraine excluding some humanitarian aid and see what ya get.

Here it is. The first parrot squawks.

If someone had bet me my bank account even five years ago that people who voted Republican would be following the foreign policy of Jimmy 'effing Carter and saying, "Would you send your children to die?" like actual bleeding vagina'd women at this point, I would have had to financially start over.

If Tucker Carlson told y'all you needed to go to the main street of your town and stick your pecker out of your pants and hang a live lobster from it at high noon while walking backwards in the middle of the street and flipping everyone off, you'd do it.

Yes I have children, and yes I would support them fighting in relatively small campaigns to defend American interests, because if they didn't, then my grandchildren would probably be fighting WWIII, and a whole lot more people will die than they would if we kept up a strong international presence. A concept y'all are are too stupid to connect the dots on.

But since no one is forced to fight and enlistment in the military is 100% voluntary and not changing any time soon (well, unless we do what you mental midgets want to do, and then that WWIII thing is an eventual certainty and probably a draft to go with it), and also since we're not even talking about military action, just foreign aid to try to prevent more military action in the long run, that's a moot point. or a red herring, rather.

Now since I answered your question, I have one for you. Who do you plan to vote for in 2024? Because Donald Trump did a whole lot more from 2016-2020 than send foreign financial aid somewhere else. He assassinated an Iranian general probably in violation of international law. He bombed Syria for something that had nothing directly to do with the US. He directly inflamed relations with several countries, including Iran.

Surely you can't vote for a war hawk such as that. He's trying to start WWIII...for profit, no doubt (because you populists claim that any military action is for profit).

Unless you're FOS and really just parroting Carlson.

So who are you voting for?

I stand by what I said. The only politicians going along with this are idiots like Boebert or just willing to lie about it to placate you idiots. Any adult in government knows we can't act like y'all want to act. You'll see. If Trump is elected, you'll see.

Of course, the narrative will change at that point.

Man we are so bad that Putin just had to invade Ukraine. He just had to.

You could sit in reverend Wright’s pew.

I’m stuck on the fact he did little to prove someone a liar on page 1 of this thread. It irritates me when people abandon their position.

And all of those headlines were posted in February or March of this year but the last one which is 4 years old

So forgive me if I think the more popular or common line of thinking as to who is most vocally against Ukraine aid, is probably more aligned with BBC, Reuters, WSJ , CNN, NYT, etc. than the Ronbots of TD.

quote:

Trump's positions are constantly changing and he is very much for supporting Ukraine now. Maybe someone should ask why?

That’s fair. At least to a degree, but I do think first analyzing the inconsistencies and choosing the one you can reasonably challenge is an exercise not many are capable of taking on. “But he said loan. OMB” does not dissolve the stark differences between what Trump is vocal about and what the entire Media Machine and DC is vocal about. It is a polar relationship. The history does matter here, because that part of it will persist.

As one last thought : they IMPEACHED the man for threatening to withhold aid from UKRAINE.

As it was stated today:

quote:

The anti-Trump Republicans yearn for a party which has disappeared. They advocate policies which are no longer realistic or viable. They are repelled by President Trump’s aggressive style and his dramatic shifts in policy.

They are rapidly becoming a fossilized reminder of a party which no longer exists – and wants to operate in a world which no longer exists.

Sadly, that may be the case. There isn't the political will to balance the budget, reform entitlements, or stand firm on social issues anymore.

Yeah, that's exactly what idiot isolationists told themselves in the 19-teens and the 1930s.

We all know how well that worked out.

But sure, history doesn't repeat itself ever. There's something magical about 2024 that means that bad actors in the world will not advance if the only force holding them back retreats.

I think Mike Johnson is under extreme duress. He was all in favor of border first, until he had that meeting in the Whitehouse.

I honestly believe he's been told in no uncertain terms that something very bad for his health or the health and safety of loved ones are at risk, and the threats are credible enough that he's scared and acting as instructed.

God damn it!

It’s more of a product of the Dems accomplishing their agenda, and/or the resistance (lack thereof)the Republicans have given them.

You can fight for a balanced budget if you can’t even establish a firm debt ceiling, or t hat one needs to exist in the first place.

Johnson, by all accounts, was a solid conservative. I know him personally. I was looking forward to him being Speaker. Not anymore. Supporting any funding for and/or U.S. involvement in Ukraine is a deal breaker for me. Anyone supporting it no longer gets my vote. This is disappointing but, sadly, not terribly surprising. D.C. has a habit of ruining the system-bucking spirit of elected officials sent there.

No U.S. involvement in the Ukraine. He's been pretty clear about that since it started... But you probably couldn't see that or hear it through your maddening TDS.

Another delusion

quote:

"We should loan them the money," Trump said at a rally in Ohio on Saturday. "If they make it — they're against tremendous odds — but if they make it, they pay us back."

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who's both a staunch Trump ally and a supporter of Ukraine, talked up the idea during a trip to Kyiv over the weekend. Several other Republican lawmakers sound open to the idea as well.
