Two views on transgender service ...

When I was in Nam, I really didn't think twice about who was covering my six as long as they did it correctly and they were strong Marines in battle. In combat you don't think about things such as color or transgender....only about ability. Hell, I had never heard that word until a few years ago. That being said....
If I would have been asked about this issue when I was at Parris Island standing in those yellow footprints, I would have had a totally different opinion. When you're a young, straight male preparing to go to a place where you can very well lose your life, you become a little more discriminatory. I would have bitched and complained with the best of them.
Life is funny. When you share an experience such as combat it has a way of bonding you together..forever.
My thought today is if transgenders can toe the line along with others....no exceptions...let them serve. They might be the one who pulls your arse, or your sons arse out of the fire.

Since we're talking about hypotheticals, it might be a trans that gets your son killed when they failed to cover his 6.

Tranny can serve but they will have to go in gender appropriate fields, no special treatment so non of that paying for hormone stuff. You wanna serve? Great but we need you 100% natural not hop up on antibiotics.

My thought is the Joint Chiefs should make the determination on who is acceptable for military service and in what capacity. The military is not a social club nor is it little league. Not everyone gets to play.

No question about it - true - obviously true.
That is not the issue - IF you have different 'rules' that you have to train to just because THAT him/her person wants you to keep in mind at all times that he/she is different - and you can be cashiered or jailed for not making /him/her/ feel 'comfortable' all the time, and your commanding officers are having to spend part of their time ensuring that he/she has the proper place to piss, then I can envision that company unity could be impacted and that the overall military preparedness could be compromised.
As long as people serve with distinction and DO NOT DRAW ATTENTION to their own peccadilloes then fine.
But the moment that 'diversity' becomes something that impacts 99.97% of the military to protect the 'feelings' of the other .03% then something is way out of whack.
I am confident there are a multitude of people serving honorably with some sort of weird shite in their background that might offend you = anytime other than when they are dragging your arse out of a firefight.
