Yeah. A person's views are only part of the equation. If can't competently apply those views, then those views are essentially worthless. Worse yet, it may make people confuse poor implementation with the views themselves.
Exactly.
Seriously...is this the best Trump can do? What ever happened to getting "the best people". Get someone who supports choice and can effectively articulate that.
And it would be helpful if the person at least knew a tiny bit about public education.

No, don't name them. No one wants to read three fricking pages of names.
Hell, Lamar Alexander has actually done that job before, and he's pro-school choice.

Seriously...at least make Lamar Alexander say no before you ask this lightweight. Alexander would have skated through almost as easily as Chao.

They need to pull her nomination, she is not qualified.
Compare her to Dr. Bill Bennett, she is wanting in ability.

Well, she is cozy with them but I agree with her decision here.

I knew one of them was Collins before every clicking on the thread.

Condi Rice
Boom. There's two. Rice and Alexander. One is a former Secretary of State and provost of Stanford University. The other is a sitting Senator...with a Republican governor to appoint his replacement...WHO HAS ACTUALLY BEEN SECED. How in the ever loving frick did Trump decide on this lightweight before making both Rice and Alexander turn him down first? Either would have breezed through confirmation.

This is a test to the republican senators. Do they want to bet it all with donald or do they want to look competent

It actually makes sense in their case.
They are senators of pretty rural States.
They don't have many private schools there and it would decrease the block grants for their schools.
Remember for most people politics are local.

So you'd be fine with Eva Moskovitz or Michell Rhee?

Can they answer questions without saying "oops I mistook the question"

Senators that live in beautiful quixotic Utopias with good schools where bears commit more violent crime than people do shouldn't be able to decide how our schools are run in the hot violent muggy terrible school shite hole we live in

Murkowski received a 100 percent rating on a 2012 NEA Report Card, while Collins received a 75 percent rating—the only Republicans to earn marks above 50 percent from the group. Each senator has earned straight-A marks from the union since 2014.

If you don't know either of those names, just exit the conversation.

Two things.
First and foremost: This is why we should not have a Federal Department of Education.
Second: Senators should consider both the states they represent and the whole country.
