There are a lot of things that can be said about President Trump. Some are positive, some are negative. Well, unless you ask a lib, then everything about the man is negative.

What no one can say (or at least shouldn't say) is that the man is doesn't know how to make a deal. Everywhere I look (except Fox News of course) talking heads are freaking out about Trump's budget proposal. Very few politicians and/or media outlets have anything positive they see in the budget. I personally agree with quite a few cuts but that's a different topic.

You have to know he was well aware his first proposal would be extreme. It's a classic negotiation tactic. Start further than where you'd like to be, and as negotiations progress, you'll end up closer to where you intended all along. People have to understand this man's back ground and stop looking at Trump through a political prism. He's been a businessman his entire career up until the last 4 months. He's going to run the government in a way that's familiar to him.

Always ask for more than you think you'll get.

Yeah, dem-progs don't usually make deals.

The senate is ignoring his overbid health insurance tax gift to the wealthy.

He can blame the non budget on the budget director.

I still like my house impeachment bill o/u. 3/2018
the wheels of justice turn slowly.

Yeah, he tried that this last go 'round and got nothing. He tried to threaten to shutdown the federal government, but he pussed out. If he plans to go through with that this go around, you know he's desperate for a win, because he'd have had a lot more public support for it before he leaked classified information to Russian diplomats the day after firing the director of the FBI for investigating his campaign connections to Russia resulting in a special counsel.

Ask for more than what you want? Sure, but you can't reveal yourself to be an idiot with no idea what you're talking about in the process. Suggesting a budget that your own party immediately declares dead on arrival doesn't put you in a powerful position. Republicans are still trying avoid publicly criticizing Trump so as not to anger his base, so forcing them to take the hit by opposing his initial budget only makes it more difficult for them to go out and fight for the cuts that they think are feasible.

Yeah because selling a famous family name to builders, Trump steaks, trump university, and over 3,000 court cases of people saying they werent paid screams a guy who knows a good deal. Sure

I M'dAGA this November.

But it's time for Trump (4 months in) to actually start making these deals before we continue to only assume he can.

Legislatively he hasn't accomplished shite yet.

Exactly. But liberals just scream and whine like children until they get what they want. Rational folks eventually cave because, like children, you get tired of them bitching and complaining. Sad!

So a $2 trillion mathematical error is considered a negotiating tactic now?

The problem is that his budget starts out by increasing spending over the 10 year timeframe. How are we supposed to negotiate down from that? The spending will be incredible by the time it is done, if it gets done at all.

quote:

When you look at the overall numbers (above), spending increases to $4.1 trillion in 2018 and rises to $5.7 trillion in 2027. So much for reductions. When figured as a percentage of the economy (GDP), we see a slow decline from 20.5 percent next year down to 18.4 percent in 2027, but those figures are screwy because they're based on the phoney-baloney growth projections. The same goes for receipts, whether estimated in dollars or percentages. Only in the fantasyland of government accounting can a budget that projects spending $900 billion more in 2027 than 2018 be described as "Trump seeks to slash $3.6 trillion in austere budget."
