I know old news but this is fricking great.

LINK

quote:

“The first thing I’m going to do is tell you that if I’m elected president, I’m accepting no salary, OK?” Trump said. “That’s no big deal for me.”

Trump, who built his fortune as a developer, real estate mogul and reality television personality, was listed on Thursday at No. 405 on Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s billionaires, with a fortune of $4.1 billion. Shortly after announcing his candidacy in June, Trump said his net worth was more than $10 billion. Herbert Hoover, who made millions of dollars in mining before becoming president in 1921, and John F. Kennedy, who came from a wealthy family, both donated their presidential salaries to charity.

Can he actually do that? I mean, he could give away every penny he gets, but can he actually decline a paycheck?

As long as it doesn't go to the Trump foundation...

im sure it will have to be donated. He should put his check in a fund and every 6 months allow Melania to donate to various charities. Make an event out of it.

From a business man, that's a terrible move.

Half a mil/year for the most stressful job in the world is a lot to pass up...

That would be a cool legacy. If he did it, and the next president stopped it would look pretty bad.

Smart move but I would donate it to the Kick a Snowflake in the arse Fund.

good thinking. after given a less than 0% chance to win the nomination and an equal chance to beat hillary, i think now's the time to start second guessing.

The goodwill and political capital he'd gain by donating it to charity will be worth more to him than $.

He prob will want to take a salary so he can get that good government healthcare.

Could do something like Steve Jobs who took a $1.00 a year salary from Apple so he could qualify for company insurance.

Nobody will donate to that anymore. The only reason anyone did was to buy influence from the future president.

She lost and that revenue stream will dry up.

He's worth almost $4 billion. $400K a year is chump change to someone with that much money.

rather than give it to a wasteful charity investing in a start up business would be the better move. The seed capital could have great returns on the back end where as a charity is just flushing money away throwing good after bad.
