You don't think that with modern technology we couldn't possibly have a secure, real-time communication ability with the President at Mar A Lago and senior leadership else where in case Trump needs to issue the order this weekend?

OF course it will, it would cave in the entrance , making the bunker inescapable and unusable. That's why it was used here. The IC suspects that many shallow tunnels were outright destroyed by the blast, but that the deeper ones actually survived intact, as did anyone who was in them.
However, they no longer have a way to the surface, so mission accomplished.
