i think open relations of some kind are more beneficial than closed relations, esp with a society as small as cuba's ... what good was the 60 years of sanctions against cuba? ... i've always felt they would've kicked castro out a long time ago if they had a taste of freedom ...

The problem isn't with the people wanting freedom. Changing their minds by showing them the benefits of a free(er) market will not do anything. The problem is with the ruler(s) who will use every measure possible to enrich themselves while crushing the spirit of those they rule.
