Trump tweets about GM---why does he do these things to himself?

GM is still the largest US manufacturer of automobiles in the US and in Southern Michigan.
GM didn't move plants to China. They built plants in China years ago to service their sales in China.
China is the largest car market in the world today. Car sales in China are expected to be around 24 million this year compared to 17 million in the USA. Is the President suggesting GM should not try to service the Chinese market??? GM happens to be one of the largest foreign manufacturers in China.
We should not have bailed GM out. Their Chinese business at the time if the US had not bailed them out would have been by far their most valuable asset if the company had been forced to liquidate.
Why did he even make this "factually incorrect" tweet???

What is so wrong with that tweet? Sounds like he's stating facts and letting the observer come to the obvious conclusion. The 1st Amendment even applies to the POTUS.

So you'd prefer for Trump go into an explanation that GM could have expanded their plants in the US to service the Chinese market, but they didn't do so in order to avoid Chinese tariffs and because of the cheap Chinese labor...

It is amazing. Any of my topics slightly critical of Trump get a lot of insults and no intelligent retorts.
One would think Trumpians that feel America needsTrump would be concerned he is hurting himself when he post lies but they are not. They don't care if he self destructs.
I voted for the man and will again if he ends this trade war quickly but I do hate to see some of idiocy expressed in his tweets. Why he stoops to even mention some of his critics is beyond me.

You are correct that is a rather poorly informed comment. To the uninformed it would appear GM imports a lot of cars from China, which they do not. (Some, yes. But very few in the big picture.) A fair number of parts do come from there.
However, you can't help but slam your dick in the door with your opinions on GM and the value of it's business in China.
While it is substantial, GM like all "name" manufacturers in China is a minority stakeholder in all of it's joint ventures there due to China limiting foreign invetment to 49%.
Also, the majority of the vehicles sold there are cheap, low end. While they do sell a good number of Buicks and Cadillacs, they are far from the majority of the business.
However, you can't help but slam your dick in the door with your opinions on GM and the value of it's business in China.

GM has exported Buick Enclaves to China. Only because they are so in demand the ChiComs will pay the massive tariffs.
