4-6 week trial after the beginning of the year.

That should suck all of the oxygen out of everything else.

No way. Is that what the court is setting aside?

Why would Democrats put Trump on trial in January?

That doesn't help Democrats.

Democrats will drag everything deep deep into next summer/early Fall.

Democrats aren't going to do any favors for Republicans.

This whole thing will unfold on a schedule that serves Democrats because all this is is a political operation not a legal one.

That must be some good stuff you are smoking

They will never get that trial started at the beginning of the year. 4-6 weeks will not touch how long it will take IF it actually is tried.

The trial has to be held sometime. No one should be surprised that it’s being done prior to the primary season.

You’re living in fantasy land if you think the trial will last any longer than that. It’ll likely be much shorter.

The idea that the 2020 election will be litigated is pure fantasy and nothing more.

No. It is what Jack is requesting. Spoiler: He won't get that start date.

Well first of all discovery alone will take past the trial date of January. Second, I did not say the 2020 election will be litigated but the extremely large amount of evidence and witnesses that will be shown will take a long time. Believe what you want to though.

The trial will take exactly as long as the judge gives them.

I've tried cases in Fed court where the Judge used a chess timer to finish the case within her allotted time.

Now we know when Republicans will schedule impeachment hearings. They will be desperate to distract away from this case.

Anyone have any thoughts on what the prosecution would likely find acceptable for a plea agreement? 1 year of house arrest for a guilty plea is something I think both sides would strongly consider. It wouldn’t preclude Trump from running for President or being President should he win unless the RNC excludes him.
