There's a big difference between politically-appointed ambassadors and career State Department ambassadors. The former exists to throw parties in allied countries. The latter advances US interests in hostile countries and in third-world shitholes.

And, I like it because they'll be replaced by people that actually know WTF they are doing instead of being used for political paybacks and favors.

I don't have a problem with this if he's just throwing the politically-appointed ambassadors. A lot of our ambassadors come out of the Foreign Service and have actual expertise on the countries in which they're ambassadors, as opposed to dingbats like this:

What are the chances he simply replaces the ambassadors with other politically connected people? He did mention Bobby Valentine as a possible ambassador to do Japan.

The American Left (Democrats) broke it. From the Left springs the notion that your political opponents are not just the gentlemen and ladies on the other side of the aisle, but, instead are vicious and hateful killers that must be destroyed.
The Left bequeathed to us the current political landscape in which polite debate and conversation with political opposites is extinct because the Left converted the landscape into a battlefield of trenches with the object being to destroy your enemies, not only their political lives, but also their private lives.
That's why the recent attack on Ivanka Trump and her children minding their own business in coach class was seen by many Leftists as just another day at the office for the SJWs whose unholy task it is to attack, attack and attack, without regard for decorum or civility of any kind.
