quote:

The Trump administration has warned Syria that the use of chemical weapons or barrel bombs could bring fresh US military action.

"If you gas a baby or drop a barrel bomb onto innocent people, you will see a response from this president," White House spokesman Sean Spicer said.

He also said Syrian president Bashar al Assad must go, adding: "You can't imagine a stable and peaceful Syria with Assad in charge

If the barrel bomb part is indeed the administration's intention, then we are probably going to war with Syria.

My hope is that Spicer just misspoke.

I was told those Tomahawks were no big deal and I was crazy to think Trump was escalating to war.

Is Spicer aware that we killed a couple hundred civilians in Mosel only last month?

Probably right. Although wording the correction might be tough:

"Correction: If Syria barrel bombs civilians Trump will be OK and you should not expect a response. Also, gas is ok as long as there are no babies."

Could Spicer try to walk this back and say by response he means tougher diplomacy? Will people on this board buy that? Will they accuse him of walking away from a red line like Obama?

Never mind that the Rebels are using propane cannisters filled rusty nails as their crude weapon of choice. Some are imported from Saudi Arabia.

I supported trump, but now I have many criticisms of him. Still better than hillary, but he is becoming a neo con quickly. He has too many neo cons around him. He is starting to look like any Republican president.

Clearly a position that will make the Russians fight, if they will fight at all.

Such a mixed signal compared to what Trumps team put out Sunday - any actual effort towards regime change in Syria would be a deal breaker for many of Trumps original supporters

Does this mean we are going to start bombing Africa?

I often wonder how these lemmings can say these things and keep a straight face. They must have to practice for hours before actually presenting the material without falling on the floor laughing.

The swamp has a grip on Trump. If he continues down this path he may be a lost cause. Sad really.

This could be a problem. It seems Russia may have been complicit in the chemical attacks:

Well that Damned old Assad,
You know he sure makes me mad,
And if he's Syrias-ly screwing with us it's gonna get bad.
With an Am'urcan flag,
We'll blow off all their head rags,
To mess with the U.S. is Delirious,
So come on surely you can't be Syria's

John Harwood?Verified account @JohnJHarwood

WH spox walking back Spicer suggestion that barrel bomb would trigger US military response: "Nothing has changed in our posture."

So yeah, they're trying to RUN this back. Spicer needs to be way more careful with his wording from here on out.
