An American across the street who was born here can also take our jobs. Nobody is advocating that all competition for jobs be eliminated. However, we can control the workforce supply by having a say over how many additional people we allow into the workforce.
That is what a functional immigration system should do. You don't seem to understand or care to differentiate the difference between legal and illegal additions to the workforce.

While I agree that we should invent a machine to pick tomatoes and what not and cheap labor stifles this process, we can't just let the tomatoes rot on the vine
Bottleneck the availability of cheap labor over time and private industry will come up with a less labor intensive method of farming
