I've always found the WH correspondents dinner to be an absurd event. It's an interesting concept: let's watch the government and media get buddy-buddy and tell jokes on each other. I like watching it (or at least the highlights) for the laughs.
But could you imagine your boss at your job letting a bunch of people less notable, less important, less rich, and less successful than him/her roast him for how he goes about his business? What kind of a boss has time for that anyway?

It is one thing to attend a good natured joking session where friends and associates poke fun at each other but from a platform of mutual respect.
It is quite another to put yourself into a situation where you must appear 'above the fray' while people who hate you guts get to sling whatever bullshite they can dream up at you.
I'd tell them I would be happy to attend a 'correspondents dinner' but will absent myself from a 'propagandists dinner.'
Your logic would have compelled Obama to attend a KKK celebratory dinner.

You do know that several media people have said that if Trump attended the dinner that they would not attend? I heard both CNN and FOX make that statement this morning on their shows, so there's that also.

It is pretty obvious what Trump SHOULD Do here. Just ask yourself... WWTD? I am pretty damn sure Trump wouldn't attend so bingo! There is your answer on what Trump should do. Easy!
