The long and the short of it is that they're our only ally in the ME. They share many of the same values as Americans. Strategically it's a no-brainer to maintain a very healthy relationship with Israel. Intelligence alone via cooperation with Mossad is reason enough.

Not completely true, as Jordan is a strong ally as well. But otherwise spot-on.

1. They are a functioning democracy in an area that is filled with pot bellied dictators and theocrats.
2. They act as a buffer for the US when it comes to Islamic Terrorism. I have always thought of the Jewish military is our first strike force.
3. Easier to invade an area if you already have land secured in the region. Look at how hard it was to invade Normandy from the sea.
4. The Jewish state does not play after the Holocaust. They open a can of whoop arse if we need it in the region.

So Saudi, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, Turkey, and Iraq don't offer this? Jordan has allowed us tremendous support for our boondoggles in the region Lol. Our military gains FAR MORE from those pot bellied dictators and theocracies (like Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq amirite?) than they ever have from Israel, who is a complete abd TOTAL liability. Right. I remeber sharing many foxholes with those amazing super soldiers in Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iraq, and Afghanistan. So glad they were there.
