Low standards is the problem

check out our mobile command unit

here's a pic of our swat guys meeting and greeting our good citizens

unfortunately if we need a tank we'll have to call on neighboring lewisville for that

we haven't had a murder in our city since 2013 since 2001 we've had 12 we're 84% white and our household median income is 400% percent of the national average. last year our high school had 31 national merit finalist and our students received over 33 million in scholarship money. not bad for a town of 45,000.

we are literally what ANTIFA is protesting against. i for one am glad our boys will be ready if it should ever occur to those maggots to visit our fair city and i can promise you our boys won't phuck around.

anybody know where we can get a good deal on a lightly used M1A1? put that in your pipe and smoke it lewisville!

Dead wrong. Police need to be more militarized. Facing assault weapons, tactical vests, and added firepower puts the average street cop in huge peril and danger. Get your facts right!

Call me crazy but our police forces do not need to be further militarized.

Normally I would agree with that but according to RCD:

quote:

Documents obtained by The Associated Press indicate President Donald Trump plans to sign an executive order undoing an Obama administration directive that restricted police agencies’ access to the gear that includes grenade launchers, bulletproof vests, riot shields, firearms and ammunition.

Why in the fudgepacking f*** did President Obama limit police access to bulletproof vests and riot shields. I'm ok with lifting those restrictions, but I am porbably not ok with lifting the restrictions on selling MRAVs and other military gear to police.

Police can buy their own bulletproof vests and riot gear numbnuts. They just like to buy the cool cammo stuff like the military has.

Why not? In what possible situation would you or I have to worry about cops having this gear? I mean if you are someone who plans on pulling shite like Antifa or rioting and looting for some reason you have a good reason to be worried but for normal people it’s no biggie.

Thats cute. You think it will only be used on Antifa.

Exactly. Only martial law works in these precarious times.

How about situations where the government becomes totalitarian? Or anytime a socialist or communist government has taken control? You see all the people screaming for socialism & communism in the US. Why do think they won't ever gain control & use the police to silence political opponents? We are already seeing liberal mayors & governors ordering police to stand down while the useful idiots create havoc. It's not much of a step to start ordering the cops to attack the conservative groups.

Great, now explain what gear the police were getting before Obama that they could now possibly be getting if Trump reverses this that you believe creates extra danger?

The answer, of course, is none. To the dummies in the thread whining about look out now if you get pulled over. HOw fricking stupid. Police didn't then and won't now routinely attend to a speeding motorist in full riot gear with "military weapons" that is a completely unfounded worry.

Stingray, Hailstorm, IMSI Catchers...

You know all thr cool stuff your local PD signs an NDA to keep secret from the taxpayers.

That doesnt youch the rise in "standard" SWAT and no knock raids over minor drug possession or the correlating rise in wrong address SWAT raids that often result in either an officer or an innocent homeowner getting killed- or little babies getting flashbanged to the face.

Examples of those being used by police, let alone against "innocent civilians"

Some of you people are just stupid. Criminally stupid. In other countries, the police are not armed to face riots and such because they don't need to be , those types of events and handled by the military, but by law that can't happen in this country, so instead we let our police have access to the level of equipment that they need to handle such situations.

We have four options.

1. Expect the police to respond to riot situations and other dangerous events with an incorrect payload to handle the situation

2. Expect the police to say "frick it" and not respond to events that they don't have the tools to handle

3. Allow the military to handle what are clearly police situations when they arise.

4. Arm the police so that they can handle situations which require specialized weapons and tactics.

No, the lack of keeping the peace is the problem.

Thats a lack of political will, NOT a lack of gear. C'mon man. Thinking isnt that hard.

Sounds like a local problem. Hold the Chief and/or Sheriff accountable.

Tell that to the families of slain officers by BLM supporters.

Police are generally underpaid, and if we can give them surplus military gear to allow the departments to improve their safety, while saving money for their benefits, I am all for this policy.

You should sue any school that gave you any sort of degree given your inability to read at the 5th grade level.

I don't know why they need these things. SWAT teams have pretty much all they need to use against criminals.
