Back to copy/paste for you. Better yet, tell us about that sweet sub you saw that one time.

You are not going to defeat ISIS. Terrorist organizations can operate from anywhere and in small numbers. We've seen people don't even have to be associated with ISIS to carry out a terror attack. Even if you push them down a bit there will always be another terror organization ready to take its place.

You obviously can never truly defeat groups like ISIS or Al-Qaeda. What you can do, however, is decimate their ranks enough that their impact becomes minor in comparison to what they were before.
Take Al-Qaeda. Yeah...they're still around but can you honestly say they are operating at the same level that they were in 2000/2001? Are they as big of a threat to launch a massive terrorist attack against America as they were 17 years ago? I think not.

Doesn't a coalition require "boots on the ground"?
Frankly, I'm speechless that you did not realize that.

I wonder why Obama didn't pull us completely out during the 8 years he was in office? Have you got an opinion?

I agree. The problem is when you slap one down another one pops up. The situation is always fluid and changing. As long as the world is spinning we will be fighting Islamic Extremists. To ignore them or to try to pacify them won't work.

I mean I wish we could mudstomp them into submission in a clean conflict in which we didn't kill a bunch of non-combatants and create a bunch more terrorists in the process.
I can't think of a single war in which noncombatants didn't get killed. It is pretty much a given.

I didn't copy and paste anything in the note to which you responded.
A severe dysfunction on this board, one I have never seen before after 20 years of posting on internet forums - not even on alt-civilwar - is people making fun of source material. It is weak and unworthy, like you.

The "sources" you provide are almost always irrelevant to anything anyone else is discussing.

t doesn't matter. Any American lives lost Will be the generals' fault.

That is exactly right.
The President--whoever that may be--should be able to explain to the American people just exactly why we are putting American soldiers in harm's way and just exactly what the end goal is.
Not Bush, Obama nor Trump has done this.
There is really is no more important issue than this right now. The press has simply become bored with it and would rather report on the slime in DC.

keep their attention focused on the battlefields of Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan rather than those of Orlando, San Pedro, and Boston.
This is your typical mindless bullshite. Newsflash, ISIL has been taking it up the pooper for years in Iraq and Syria, yet somehow this "distraction" doesn't prevent domestic terrorism.
It seems like the two aren't related at all. It's almost like anyone could take a gun/knife/bomb to a nightclub and cause carnage, and that "distracting" ISIL military formations has no effect on lone wolfs and decentralized terrorism. Who would have thought.
It's really going to blow your feeble mind when ISIL "loses" In Iraq and Syria and their focus becomes domestic terrorism outside of these conflicts areas.

These wars are 100% America's most pressing issue. And DJT is fricking this up bigly.

Makes a good case for some sort of mandatory service....when everyone has some skin in the game the game is less likely to require the death of anyone. As it is outside of military familiees most Americans have no idea how much we have asked of the military in the last 15 years...we don't know what it means for one or both parents to be deployed down range for 5 and 6 or 8 or 9 years....or worse...
Posted on 3/27/17 at 10:56 am to germandawg
I am opposed to mandatory service.
