Now I don't hear anything about it.
It is accepted behavior in the military now. Like any activity, discretion and good judgment goes a long way.

Transgender is a completely different matter because almost all of our standards (medical and physical fitness) and living accommodations are based on gender. If an individual decided to change gender and then join the military they would meet little to no resistance.

And that's not even discussing the very obvious logistical questions.

For example, the UCMJJ is quite specific on things like appropriate dress for men and women. You can actually receive punishment for dressing inappropriate (I realize as a vet YOU know this, but many civilians don't understand that military life is way different than civilian life) so what about the Commander who sees a guy in a skirt and proffers charges? How the hell is that dude supposed to know if the junior man feels like a woman and so should dress like a woman, or is just some clown fricking around?

what about battle buddies , what if no one wants to battle buddy with a dude that thinks hes a woman? or what's worse what if a recruit DOES want to bunk with a dude that thinks he's a woman?

Things like that have to be considered

And that's on top of the very real fact that being gay is a choice of who you have sex with. That doesn't affect your ability to serve. On the other hand, actually believing you were born a different gender than your chromosomes indicate you are is a mental disorder and mentally ill people shouldn't be in the military

Other than mocking me by calling me "hero" multiple times and denigrating the fact I have a combat action badge (when did you earn yours by the way) and making light of the fact that I am a master parachutist, yeah, I absolutely feel respected.

Sure, but that was after you called me a liar and a coward, among other things, several times for never having said that I am currently in the military.

I do regret that behavior.

Uhm, let's get one thing straight. You said no one was putting a resume out there. I showed mine in the form of my OCP uniform. I was kind and gracious and said nothing other than here is who I am and what I do. Just establishing I have appropriate credentials. Next thing I know you are making cutting remarks about me being a hero.

So yeah, it definitely went down hill from there.

Sure, let's get it straight.

I was more than courteous to you in the other thread. Even talked about SA briefly. Then you made a comment that I ignored: "Please tell me you are not an officer."

No big deal. Fast forward to this thread.

This is how you chose to kick it off:
quote:

Still have not committed to how you have served?

My reply:
quote:

Nope, and I won't. It's none of your business.

You again:
quote:

Did not say it was. Just wondering. But you do not have the courage to answer the question so we will leave it alone. Enjoy your faux service.

Maybe I was a bit of an a-hole after dealing with that other thread, but I didn't start being a complete dick to you until you made this last comment.

Apologies for my part in escalating it, but it wasn't something I pulled out of my arse.

I just wish you'd pull a coherent argument out of your arse at some point.

It was never really anyone's business what the soldiers were doing in their private life.

Those were the exact same concerns over allowing gays to serve. Seems like the concerns were baseless.

That is completely incorrect

I reiterate what I said earlier those of you have never served and don't know what being in the military entails should simply shut the frick up on this topic.

The military certainly DOES care what you do in your private life if you are in the military and in actuality as a military member you have no private life.

Military members do NOT enjoy the same rights from the military as civilians do from the government. The UCMJ supercedes the COTUS in terms of the law and soldier life.

Just as one quick example, as a civilian you won't go to prison for having sex with another man's wife. In the military , you certainly CAN go to prison for having sex with another man's wife.

The military cares, and not just about "transgender"

The San Antonio Spurs

Been a fan since my dad was stationed here when I was a kid.

SeaWorld and Fiesta Texas are popping this time of year. Or just hit up La Cantera in general (side of town I live on).

Top Golf, iFly, fun spots right off loop 1604 Take in a movie at one of the Alamo Drafthouse theaters.

I love living here.

You might want to give the UCMJ a read.

Awesome. We've done some of that, but will check out the others.

Who has the best burgers and the best steaks around here?

We ate at Whiskey Cake, and their burger was pretty good. Perry's had a pretty good steak. Just wondering if there's anything better I need to try.
