The Seinfeld cast was getting up there in salary as well.

500K each towards the end?

I think it was $600K for "the gang" and $1M for Jerry during the last season or two. Jerry turned down $5M per episode to come back for another season ...( )

re: To whichever poster chided me about Duck Dynasty
There is nothing wrong with a little mindless entertainment every now and then.

The interesting angle of the show is that it actually engages the rednecks instead of observing them like chimpanzees in a demeaning, sub-human sort of way (Swamp People). Turns out the rednecks are fairly smart, self-depricating types of folks full of one-liners. A&E, undoubtedly not expecting the show to last more than a season or two, then probably had to assign a big time script writer to come up with staged scenarios. Now it's not quite as off-the-cuff as before. Still funny moments as they are genuinely funny people.

It's also appealing in a Southern culture kind of way. The family, blessing the meal, self-deprecating humor, etc.

That's as good an explanation as I've got even though I'm not as gung ho about it as I was in the early episodes.

I found it interesting that my wife's family from Toledo, OH, were really into the show as well. Never would have suspected.

This and pawn stars are the only reality show I watch. I think DD is funny, yep low brow, but funny and I never once thought it was about hunting. The commercial they played before it started always made sure to make it known it was about a man who created a duck call and got rich off of it. He went to LA Tech and played QB there and started ahead of Terry Bradshaw. But there is hunting in there, crawfishing, fishing and how to properly destroy an old duck blind.

My favorite quote:

"Here is some red neck logic: If you are going to take something from a red neck, be sure to blow it up. Because he will be so awed by the explosion and so busy watching the fire that he will forget the thing is gone."

Remember you and I will be paying 35% of the salaries. So the company will get $70,000 per episode in Louisiana taxpayer subsidies.

Remember, that all the cast lives in Louisiana and have operated a business here for 40 years. So, plenty of tax money has gone and will continue to go back to the state.

Nevermind the fact that their merchandising has gone through the roof causing them to buy a new facility solely for the retail merchandising side. So, add additional property taxes into the mix.

I'm pretty certain the Duck Dynasty season premier was the most watched show in the channel's history.

The family is only asking for $200k total (Phil, Si, Willy, Jase, and Jep) per episode, right? Not $200k to each member.

Ya know, I wouldn't mind them doing a TV show about my life for much less money. I'd only charge $20K per episode. And since the crew is only 80 miles away it would be on the cheap for A.E.

I'm working on some titles right now. Lemme know what you all think:

1. Zach goes into the gym coffee lounge and yells at the old people "Hey, don't ya'll ever work out?"

2. Zach challenges Mayor Cedric Glover to a 1 mile race. If Zach wins, Glover agrees to the Shreveport Dog Park. If Glover wins Zach donates $10K to his campaign for Governor.

3. Zach confronts the Propane guy "Hey, I said to come NEXT week, moron. My tank is at 40 mussent!"

4. Zach goes down to his launch and finds the usual fishing lures but this time there is a large plastic sheet with strange colors. Zach is about to throw it out when he notices an intricate zipper. Zach decides to keep it and call his son as to what it might be. Perhaps dropped by a Drone.

5. The American Dairy Association offers Lucy $1,000 to eat a 2 pound wedge of cheddar cheese. She counter offers: "I want a swimming pool. Wait. I want a swimming pool and a puppy."

Correct.. they are essentially a production co. amongst themselves and will be responsible for payouts to those within including the friends. If you notice when they are filming, noone is around except those on the show regularly. This is because they dont film during business hours...but on weekends and such

I personally enjoy the show..its scripted and they dont hide from that which allows them to play themselves within the script.

then A&E would be foolish not to fork over 200k.
the ad execs should write the following on the bean counter's heads: MOST WATCHED SHOW ON THIS NETWORK... EVAR!

re: To whichever poster chided me about Duck Dynasty
They will give in... The show has become to important to the network. Originally they were bought as a filler. When the show was tested they were shocked at the response and thus we got the huge first season push with the rolls royce and mansions. They weren't sure how this would translate over from the Outdoor channel production and the Robertsons were in this for the same reason they pumped out those videos back in the 80's-90's..to them its all about the product...in a good way

I wonder if the Robertsons are dealing with another network as leverage against A.E.

Most of these shows go through the production company.
