quote:

President Donald Trump this week abruptly dropped the nation's commitment to a two-state solution for Middle East peace — without reviewing the specifics of his new strategy with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

State Department officials and Tillerson's top aides learned about the president's comments in real time, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation. Tillerson himself was in the air when Trump announced the change in the longstanding U.S. position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. At the White House, there was little thought about notifying the nation's top diplomat because, as one senior staffer put it, "everyone knows Jared [Kushner] is running point on the Israel stuff."

...

Tillerson, meanwhile, is privately expressing his own dissatisfaction that the administration has reneged on its promise to allow him to pick ambassadors, grievances that are now spilling out into public view ahead of any official announcements.

...

The ambassadors were not chosen for their diplomatic or foreign policy experience, this person said. "They are political types and donors, the usual suspects for ambassadors," this person said. "The ambassadors are not ‘drain the swamp’ kind of people."
A good leak from Mattis' people too:
quote:

“He said, ‘You’ve got to get Rex [Tillerson] over the finish line for me,” one GOP senate staffer recalled, “because Flynn is crazy.”

Interested in any detail here. Ambassadors to our western and key partners are typically, almost as a rule, top donors and friends. There's a reason for this. They don't matter as much. Our connections are so deep in business, culture, and government that communication from the lowest rung of travel agency all the way up to the president (and his counterparts) is pretty routine.

Career diplomats with the rank of ambassador go to places that actually require regional expertise at that level.

Well, there is nothing good about this except maybe that Kushner is shadow Secretary of State.

Flynn was a bad egg. I'm glad he's out.

lol. When mentioning regional expertise I thought of mentioning Africa and the Baltic States as examples, but specifically edited them out.

In other words, getting his story out to the press by telling his aides to leak news.

Probably not even going to appoint ambassadors to the Baltic states considering they're going to be part of Russia soon anyway.

The title is such BS, an obvious hit piece of lies.

Trump ignores 'the grown-ups' in his Cabinet

No one ever cites Politico for fake news hackery because everyone knows they are biased.

That's what I thought I heard too. Thanks for posting. I would have, but was unsure. Lots of supposition in this article, but that's are for the course, lately.

In most countries not much.

Don't forget though, that our Ambassador to Iraq, April Glaspie, as Ron Paul says in the video, gave Iraq a Green light to attack Kuwait. That has led to decades of disaster for the United States.

When I saw the big hoo-rah over Bush 41 at the Super Bowl I wanted to vomit.

Ron Paul lays it out.
