May God have mercy on me, but I don't completely disagree with tuba boy on this. I know there have been some exceptions, but this whole thing smacks of nothing more than the usual attention-whoring we see from TMZ celebrity-types who can get a30-second "fame fix" by engaging in some superficial activity.
I tend to feel the same way about all of this stuff, including that ridiculous #saveourgirls campaign. That was simply nothing more than celebrities getting another fame fix while pretending to do something meaningful about a serious problem.
Where I potentially disagree with tuba is in regards to any positive effect this may have had on fundraising. If this phenomenon has actually increased donations, then I'm willing to overlook the fact that 95% of this is nothing more than a silly, "look at me" stunt.

obviously this is a #FWP because we can only advance as a species when we reach different levels of abundance

I honestly don't see what all the hate is, you don't have to watch the videos if you don't want to.
If you want to get down to it, everyone that is mad at this probably saw that one person they don't like on Facebook post a video of the challenge, and they either are annoyed that this person they dislike is "getting credit" or "peacocking" their charity, or they just associate the entire activity with this person they don't like in general.
If they only saw Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Drew Brees, etc doing it, they would love it.

It's still annoying, but at least it's not pink ribbons.

Good god I'd hate to be around you.
That said, the shite is played out. I was challenged and ignored it.

Fair enough, but that's a macro issue. That's like me criticizing you today for wanting to have sex because it feels good, because I believe in the future we will be able to reproduce asexually. It's not pertinent today because we haven't evolved to that point yet.

i can assure you this does not apply to me

Still down voted you. While the reasons some people do the challenge may be selfishness it is still raising money and awareness.

if the people who did the challenge had given the $100, it would be approximately 10x that number
People who complain about this are really just habitual whiners who have ran out of things to whine about, i'm fairly certain that I can make that blanket assessment and it be accurate.

You're focusing on the negative as opposed to all the positive. And the amount of donations suggest you may not even be right with your completely made up number.

The real problem with TUBA's big fat arse, and the ice bucket challenge is, nobody can find a big enough bucket to wet that big Vagina!!!

It should be The Sulfuric Acid Challenge. That'll really get the checks coming in. This ice water approach is just too damn easy and, as it turns out, fun.

That's how viral marketing works.
It starts with a few...and then exponentially spreads.

i really do wonder how people can support this
That's exactly what happened here.
