Political offices, especially the President of the United States, operate under constant public observation and scrutiny. Trump's extensive business experience has been exclusively as the head and chief executive of large and diverse, but closely held entities. The chief executive of a closely held entity can operate like a king. You can fire anyone and basically do anything as long as it isn't clearly illegal. No one has a right to see your books or second guess your actions.

At this point the Republicans control the executive, the legislative and most of the federal courts, including a majority at the Supreme Court. Yet for some reason Trump can't seem to work with anyone effectively.

I don't think that Trump is evil. It rather appears to me that he doesn't understand the basic rules of political governance. Nothing in the operation of closely held entities has prepared Trump for the task of operating under scrutiny and public observation.

I agree with you

He was a bull in a china shop in the campaign, and it worked. It's not unrealistic at all to think that a month into his presidency, he had no sense of what a President should or should not do with regard to this situation.

You mean to tell us Trump isn't a professional politician?

What other insights can you offer?

He's a master bricklayer who has now been asked to perform brain surgery.

He's not in his wheel house and is an amateur.

Something that should have been obvious to anyone with a brain. He had no idea what the role of POTUS actually was while campaigning, and I doubt he does now after 100+ days on the job.

Not being a professional politician does not excuse him from not acting like a professional.

Sorry I am not as smart as you. He is dangerously narcissistic. He has no sense of self reflection or humility.

Does that make it more palatable for you?

Congress is sucking major dick getting Trump bills to sign. Trump is not a traditional politician so they need to step up to the plate and carry the load of governing.

I think what the election of DT proved was how fed up with Washington the American people are. We didn't want Hillary because it meant the same nonsense as before. Me, like a lot who voted for trump, put optomism over realistic expectations in hopes he would tone down the tweeting, drain the swamp, and clean up the corruption. Some on this board have jumped ship and some have doubled down on him playing space chess or whatever, but I think the truth is in the middle as most things are, he's an egomaniacal narcissist who is having to admit he doesn't know everything when he's not surrounded by yes men. Not only can he not use money to get out of certain situations, but the media is actively making shite up along with reporting when he takes a shite. I'll support him till his last day whenever that will be, but I'm not naive enough to think he's been fantastic.

He just got a healthcare bill passed, a SCJ appointed, and a bevy of regulatory impediments removed. Seems pretty effective.

MSM is all out attacking Trump. Why? Because their Democrats.

There is no doubt that you are not as smart as me, you don't need to continually post things to prove that point

You just posted an opinion, and a dumb one at that. Compare a typical Trump speech to a typical Obama speech and count the "I's" and you easily see which person has the bigger ego. Did you ever post that Obama had a dangerous ego? Of course not.

I go back to this point that anyone that actually listened to Trump's speeches, statements, or answers during the campaign could tell he had no depth when it came to knowledge of his policies or the functions of government. He had nothing but word vomits designed to fill time and fire up supporters.

Sure, he's a successful businessman but he never had to answer to a board or shareholders. It was clear that he would struggle with the understanding of how to pull the levers of governing. It was also clear that showed little desire to understand anything. I'm all for an outsider, but that doesn't mean I want an outsider who is hardheaded and is clueless about the fundamentals of being President.

This trainwreck was obvious to anyone who paid attention and didn't have their head up their arse.

Best thing he could do is empower Pence and a strong Chief of Staff, maybe a former Governor or Cabinet secretary, to run the country, and he serves as the figurehead. And then not run again in 2020.
